Sub $30k/yr earner weaseled his way into an interview with me

Kind of pissed right now brahs, time is money and mine has been wasted.

So I'm interviewing this guy, running through the standard questions. He is answering OK, nothing that blows me away - decidedly average.

Anyways we get to compensation at the end. I ask him "So what is you compensation expectation in this position" - because obviously you want to make THEM throw the number out to see if it is under or above what you would offer anyways, but always make them throw out the number.


The guys says - and I'm not joking - "I'd be satisfied with anything over 35 thousand".

I glanced up from my clipboard like "u fukking wot". This was an 80k/yr position, how did this little twat make it through the gatekeepers?

I realized my time had been wasted but I put on my pokerface and let me curiosity guide me to confirm the worst.

Looking down at my clipboard writing notes about this guy I ask "what was your most recent compensation".


$30k a year he said.


I stood up and opened the door.

"I'll be in touch" I said as he awkwardly got up and fumbled out the door in his cheap suit.







WTF, Barabara in HR is going to get an ear full for even making me talk to a 30k/yr earner who clearly should not have been there.
