I've enjoyed the debate in this thread and I don't live in the USA

For me, what it really comes down to is: it's not very hard to avoid attacking a police officer.

If you make a series of decisions in your life, and find yourself in a 1v1 fight with a LEO, you legit dun goofed.

And probably deserve the consequences even if fatal - like, how hard is it?

Look, we get it, you are unwilling to accept any risk and would rather sit and watch and wait or maybe run away. That's your choice. We're just happy not everybody is that way.
no, the thing the other post was talking about is what if a similar situation, and a random conceal carry guy came to help, and was going to shoot the bad guy but since they are fighting on the ground, accidentally shot the cop.

and i said i bet you bros would be calling for the death sentence of the conceal carry guy even tho he wanted to help, and saying how "vigilantes" shouldn't try to help.

im saying you bros always want the cake and eat it too.

You're the kinda guy I play poker against, and read like a book.

I watched the video again to confirm my thoughts.

The attacker is clearly not even looking at his surrounding, it's obvious the hero said something to draw his attention as he approached, resulting in the attacker look in his direction. The hero could have approached from behind, and/or just said nothing, ran at the guy, knocked him off the cop. What I just said isn't advanced, nor does it take training to achieve, any no body can break up a fight relatively easy, especially when it's an immediate 3vs1, and likely soon to be even better than.

Not to mention there was a 4th guy approaching the scene.

And people are telling me "Oh, you must be Chuck Norris", as if rugby tackling a guy takes any sort of skill, as if it takes incredible technique or skill, as if there are not 3 fully grown men on the scene to subdue 1 guy.

You guys are treating this like it's rocket science.
You asked if you were wrong, and you were. If you wanna Rugby tackle someone in that situation, go for it. The only issue is, shooters actions were 100% justifiable, good guys with guns save others more often than people know or realize. That's it.

Someone could decide to put themselves at greater risk and tackle him (and others already explained why that's a bad idea) and it may turn out fine, or it may not.

Anti gun types always jump to "what if" scenarios vs what actually happened and what actually happens the vast majority of the time. A rejection of reality seems par for the course with them. They only "what if" in the direction of making the gun problematic vs valuable in a given situation.

2. having a criminal record (or something else that would prevent him from owning the gun legally)

just guessing.

You think someone buying a gun with scratched off serial number is going to go out of their way to kill someone else over a cop?

If you're stupid enough to get into a physical altercation with a ****ing cop then you should at least know that your chances of getting shot and killed are pretty damn high.

How would you know 100% you could stop the attack without getting injuries? The guy could have a knife on him for all you know, you tackle him and roll around for 2-3 seconds while the injured cop lays there and then he pulls it and plunges it into your chest and now you're fukked when you could've just shot him.

If you can't hit a chest sized target from 5-10 feet then you shouldn't be carrying. Personally I would take a headshot in this situation because it's farthest point from the officer and once I decide to shoot it is to immediately stop the threat.

Cops dont train as hard throughout the 90 day? Training than a SEAL does in 1 days training.

This is pathetic to say the least IMO. Training to be a law enforcement officer should be more than 90 days, and it should be continuous.

Agreed. Now we just have to figure out who gets the bill for extra training and we have solved part of the problem.

Don't know where this 90 day number is coming from, my academy was 6 months M-F 5am-5pm minimum with multiple Sat/Sun training as well. Training definitely continued after that as well.

Thats quite the leap...my first response was congratulating the citizen for using his 1A right. Pull the panties out of your ass and see the situation for what it is. The cop failed in the line of duty, fact. Citizen potentially saved his life, fact. Cop needs to be retrained to this doesnt happen to him again, fact.

His 1A right? What?

You're a ****ing moron to claim every cop in the country should be able to win a fight against every person who might attack them, in every circumstance under which they might be attacked

You need to get off your high horse. Does every cop that is assaulted need to be retrained ? You are clueless. I am surprised you can find your own bellybutton.
