I got a 2017 WRX, love it to pieces. the new one looks much more refined than any of the previous generations. And you should be having to worry about handling your kids while you're driving...

you can get automatic if you really need to, but I've driven stick for years in SD/LA traffic and it's never really bothered me.

You can still get an automatic with paddle shifters as an option for the Premium or Limited WRX, but the Base WRX and base/limited STI all come with manual only

I love my Optima. 125k miles and I've only changed the brakes, tires, and oil.

Buy a cheaper normal car and use the rest of the money that you saved not buying the WRX and go rent a Lamborghini every few months? My guy charges $350-400 for 2 hours in a Lamborghini Huracan.

I'd rather be renting a Lamborghini few times a year than own a WRX.

Lamborghini will eat the WRX for lunch, I killed one I saw on the street.

Honda Accord. Super reliable. Can get a v6. Fuel economy. Can hand it down to your kid

Heard good things about the 2017 CR-V which can be had with a lil turbo

Civic hatchback as well, but maybe that looks "too childish"

1) Strong everything.

2) Get the car you want. If you must compromise, get a more demure color like silver or dark gray metallic (DGM) and it will look fine.

3) If your kids are going to jump out of the window during the split-second it takes to shift a car, then maybe you should be looking to invest in a cage. Millions of people around the world (and perhaps HUNDREDS of Americans) are able to drive a manual transmission safely with kids.

This...I dont understand the logic of this argument. How the fuk you gonna grab your kids if youre on the motorway/freeway and they barrel roll out like Wesley Snipes from the back seat, manual or no?!

this fukking guy every single damn time

not one ******* ITT has ever considered renting a lambo on a regular basis for status purposes except you dum dum

@OP, there are tons of other sub-$30k cars out there that could be a viable alternative, it depends what you want out of your car. if you just want a reliable daily driver with minimal maintenance and upkeep with nothing else, definitely do NOT get a WRX. You'd be better suited for a more entry level vehicle in that case. If you wanna be able to do some offroading in the desert, get a truck. If you want to have the perfect family car for your 3-4 kids, get a mid-size SUV around the same price point.

There's tons of options. depends what you want out of your car

EDIT: do not buy a CPO german car unless it comes low mileage, stock, and with a damn good warranty. Otherwise you're gonna pay out your ass for maintenance. The general rule of thumb is you only lease german, or finance it till it's out of warranty

EDIT2: just my opinion obviously. if you really want it, get it brah.

Thanks for the feedback man.

I'm actually considering the Legacy too. Will probably test drive an Accord.

I don't really know what I want, aside from a new car with four doors that will be reliable for the next 5+ years
