making 40k vs 100k isnt everything

however having 100s of millions could be. 40k vs 100k is not going to change your entire life. You will get the chance to own nicer things, go on more vacations etc.

The only reason I care to make 100k vs 40k is for early retirement

People cope. It's the same reasoning that helps beta sub-male where they imagine that any male athlete has to be dumber than them. When they meet a taller/stronger/smarter guy their brain cannot compute.

Or like kids who picked up MMA 3 weeks ago and are 140lbs soaking wet thinking that every 200lbs+ guy can't fight, it helps them feel safer.

''I might not have money but at least I'm healthy!'' Lmao.

the opposite problem is far more common.

what you are describing is one of those good problems, very small percentage.

I have made both amounts and my quality of living has not changed except I save a lot more. The things that you can purchase and do w/ 100k is really not that much different than 40k. I guess purchasing a house would be more of an option with 100k. I still live in the same size apartment, drive the same car, and do all the same **** as I did when I only made 40k.

Maybe it is just because I do not have much of a care for expensive things unless I was making 7 figures.

Money is the foundation, if you don't have it you're miserable. If you have it, you never seem to have enough time to enjoy all of it.

The point isn't having more money, the point is being financially free. That's why people here that have bigger salaries are still miserable, because they're not FREE. They're just working just as hard if not harder for that bigger pay, and buying even bigger doodads and liabilities.

Also, people who say, "money doesn't buy happiness" are just coping.

Depends on how much you make really..
even 20k VS 100k isn't that much more different, Sure you might not be able to buy the latest crap phone for $1k a pop, but a $100 phone does the same job really and you won't miss out on anything, You will still live a good life and be able to travel and enjoy life.

it's the extremes that matter, If you make 2k a YEAR working as a slave in some mines than yeah it's going to suck.
If you make 100mil a year, than yeah.. You can actually do insane things with that.

Hedonic Treadmill. Aware yourself.
Spending money, buying something nice etc might raise your hapiness for a little while, but quickly reverts back to normal.

Lets say rent costs 1k / month. Making 20k / year (not even taking taxes into consideration), you would be left over with 8k . Where as in the other situation you would be like over with 88k. Is having an extra $80,000 going to make a difference? yes of course will..

you wouldn't be living in a place where it costs 1k/month to rent the place if you were making 20k...

Money is just a tool.

You use tools to make work easier, or to save time, or do something you couldnt do by yourself.

You trade that dollar for a 1lb of ground beef so you dont have to raise the cow yourself, because its easier, saves more time, and you dont know how to raise or butcher a cow. Its easier to specialize in something than wear a ton of hats.

If you have enough of it you can afford freedom, or buy things that make your life easier or make your quality of life better. Some people think things will make them happy while other people just want freedom. Everyone wants a part of it because everyone wants something from someone.

What about materials? If you have shelter (house, apartment, condo), reliable transportation (car, bus, train), internet, clothing, entertainment (video games), and food what exactly do you need more money for? This breeds class warfare where the past dominates the present

Where do you get the money for these things? If its all provided you dont really need money unless you want more than you already have.

you don't, they have been given to you. Haven't you heard of hand-me-downs? I live at home and my mom gave me her car while she can drive her van. Since shelter & transportation is covered, I work for money to buy video games.

There are so many unhappy multi millionaires,
there are so many happy poor folk and people whose financial situations fit between the two.

wrong there tbh, depends where you live in that scenario. 100k vs 40k would be monstrous for me. especially if i move somewhere more expensive ie cali/seattle like id like to

you also have to remember WHY theyre unhappy. i think being unhappy bc you feel unfulfilled or something in life is a hell of a lot better than unhappy because you live in a total craphole apartment where the water is never hot, the lights barely work, and you live paycheck to paycheck.

intelligence plays the biggest factor in the scenarios you're describing though, it is indeed fact that intelligence and happiness are inversely correlated, ignorance and being too stupid to see things for what they really are in life truly is bliss.

Nuance doesnt exist on internet discussion, people who dont have 100k are imagining themselves with it thinking they may be different but in the end they will be sat miscing and jacking off and complaining about women no matter how much theyre earning
