If one of us died choking on a pancake, we might get a little blip in the school paper on the last page. When an HBB dies, THE WORLD MOURNS lol

I remember when a cheerleader at my high school died. There was a school assembly for her, little bracelets everyone wore, etc. They had to hold a service at the football stadium and thousands of people showed up. Literally a month later, some dude died in a car accident and it was never even mentioned. Totally disposable.

Just the way it is , no one cares that a dude dies unless he was the starting qb or until you have a wife and kids. Then it's sad because you left them, not because you're dead.

It's very unfortunate but not that hard to imagine how it could happen even without food allergies, etc. I've been really hungry throwing pancakes down quick and had moments where my throat feels really uncomfortable and I have to stop and drink some water and breathe a bit. I can imagine a smaller sorority girl under the added excitement of a contest choking pretty bad. It's a bit of a fluke nonetheless, but people die in weirder ways.

Just imagine if someone stuffed all 5 down your throat at once. They have kind of a sponge-like quality where they could expand in your throat.

Yes it can. Brain hypoxemia sets in very quickly and seizures can set in soon after. Have you ever seen anyone have a seizure? I have seen dozens and dozens and they can get intense in a matter of second.

No, not really. Shock is usually caused by infection, blood loss, or other reasons of low cardiac output, but there are different kinds. I am not 100% sure, but it is not probably. Brain hypoxemia is the probably etiology

Although that is some good thinking, that is extremely farfetched. Type 1 diabetes usually manifests in other ways, not when an 18 year old eats a bunch of pancakes.

Some of u brahs need to read the friggin article. Many people tried helping her (including Himech maneuver) but just couldn't clear the airway. Woundering how big the pancake lumps were to not budge or if she tried drinking some water??
