If my maintenance is 2000 calories and I lift 4x a week, assuming each workout burns 200 calories..
Day 1 - 2400 calories, lift (2200 net)
Day 2 - 1600 calories, rest
Day 3 - 2400 calories, lift (2200 net)
Day 4 - 1600 calories, rest
Day 5 - 2400 calories, lift (2200 net)
Day 6 - 1600 calories, rest
Day 7 - 2400 calories, lift (2200 net)
That's a total surplus of 800 calories from my lifting days, and a deficit of 1200 calories on my rest days. So my weekly net would be -400 calories.
If I bumped up my lift day calories to 2600, my surplus would be 1600 calories, with a deficit of 1200 calories on my rest days. So my weekly net would be +400 calories. I'll use this for what follows.
Over six months (~24 weeks) I'd be at a surplus of 9,600 calories, or 2.75lbs. I'd essentially be putting on 3lbs ofweightover 6 months.
However, my total surplus on lifting days over 24 weeks would end up being 38,400 calories, or 11lbs. Assuming 75% of that is muscle, that's roughly 8lbs of muscle and 3lbs of fat.
On the other side, my total deficit would be 28,800 calories, or 8lbs of fat loss. Assuming 75% of that loss is fat, that's a 6lb loss of fat, and 2lb loss os muscle.
So adding everything up, I would end up putting on 6lbs of muscle and losing 3lbs of fat, over 24 weeks, all the while staying lean. Over a year I would be putting on 12lbs of muscle and losing 6lbs of fat. Is that considered good progress?
Doing a traditional bulk with .5lbs/week gain, over 20 weeks I could put on 10lbs, maybe 8lbs of muscle and 2lbs of fat. If I cut over 4 weeks I may be able to lose 3lbs of fat and 1lb of muscle, for a net gain of 7lbs of muscle and 1lb loss of fat. Over a year I would put on 14lbs of muscle and lose 2lbs of fat.
Which do you guys think would be better?
I get the feeling that I would prefer a recomp for reasons stated earlier; never want to gain fat again. I am as lean as my avi right now.

You will use up glycogen during workouts and should be refueling after. Not to mention metabolic activity is raise from working out some studies show increased fat burning for up to 24 hrs after working out. Also if you were to use glycogen in your muscle, your muscle will absorb more and be sensitive for again up to 24hrs. So if you did HILT in the afternoon you would have a big dinner then would want to have a decent size breakfast. Your plan could be somewhat effective if you had a early like 5 or 6 am workout.
But even still going into a calorie deficit will change hormone levels. In a natural lifter recomp after your first year of training isn't likely.
Also, again as a natural you will only hold so much muscle you may put on 10-15 on your first year, 8 on your 2nd 4 on your 3rd and keep going in half. This is different for adolescents who are growing, or people who are underweight like anorexics.
You have no stats and guessing avi is fake, but if you have been lifting for more than a couple years look at gaining 2-4 lbs of muscle this year at best.

Facepulls are the goat, but ya do them light. Other goat is to take one of those elastic exercise bands chicks love and just do band pull aparts, and band pull aparts over your head (from directly over your head, to arms separated but with the band coming behind your head...probably butchered this explanation but im sure someone could name it for me). Bands were one of the first things that alleviated my scapular pain.

On top of that, my "24 week cycle" is just an extrapolation of what the results would be based on a single week.

You are too lean and trained to recomp efficiently. You can maybe bring up your detrained legs but other than that you will just end up wheelspinning.

Posting this to hold myself accountable .... 210lbs right now at 8% BF ... I NEED to go keto for the next few weeks and drop down to 5% and see how I look. I'm doing two a days around my hectic schedule but this past week my calories/carbs have been higher than needed. Sadly I really don't cut well except on near nil carbs to get that extra freaky look.
Starting tomorrow/Thursday no more ****ing around .... 3 weeks of absolutely killing it. All I do is win so I sure as **** better be able to go. A few measly weeks carbless.
(Sorry - posting it here helps hold me more accountable. If you see me posting pester the **** out of me making sure I follow thru. If I do not than neg me into oblivion.)

I quit in the middle of August as well. I don't feel any different thiugh, maybe I'm already dead.
Tug you need to fukkin chill 100% srs. 5'9 130lbs has a lot of mass left to grow. Weight is relevant. That's bird bone sized. Nobody but you sees your "love handles" when you hit 135lbs with 1lbs of fat gain, 2lbs of water and 2lbs of glycogen.
Fukkin relax dog you're wearing yourself out about legitimate NON-issues.
And I'm sorry to say but staying single digit bodyfat and bulking as a natty is a pipe dream bro. It won't happen. Either you'll gain fat or you'll give up. Quote this for future reference.
