I think there is definitely a novelty and relativity factor too.

When they start off, they're ok. Then they peak and become the best, then we are so used to their style and great material that the bar gets raised so high they begin to seem less than amazing like they once were.

Very true, I kind of felt that way watching Dave. It was a good special, he just reminded me of a boxer who took a long lay off and had severe ring rust. He lost a step, and it showed.

Not the case with Burr. I can rewatch his old specials. They are pretty much all 10s. His last two were weak. His last one was the weakest.

He doesn't rag on women anymore because his wife complained he didn't need to do it to be funny. He talked about it on his podcast. His last special didn't have it.

Bill Burr and Aziz Ansari are the best IMO. Burr used to say hilarious chit about American women that is quite accurate lol, his podcasts were good too.

Nah man I mean when they come out with something new. Of course I can re-watch specials and still die. But it is precisely those old specials that create a much higher bar whether you realize it or not.

With that said.. Burrs most recent was very mediocre regardless.

Can't believe you didn't like 'I'm sorry you feel that way' though. Personal fave.

I want to say I could see the cracks of him changing in "I'm Sorry You Feel That Way". I thought it was mediocre. I thought the last special was straight up bad. Couldn't finish it.
