I was wondering if Assad was questioning whether trump had the balls to actually launch a strike and figured he wouldn't considering how low his approval rating is.
He got his answer.

>This does not indicate a desire to continue a foreign policy of "kill the leader, allow destabilized chaos." This indicates a desire to neuter the military of Assad, and to, as Trump stated during his campaign, set up safe zones in Syria to eradicate the extremist rebels and allow the state to organize. Unlike in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US will seek aid from neighboring states, such as Jordan, who have interest in Syria stabilizing, and not falling to terrorists. Restructuring of failed Middle Eastern regimes will be better handled by current prosperous secular Middle Eastern states.

Not sure how that's relevant at all.
People certainly, certainly, absolutely no doubt about it, suffer from normal bombs too. Absolutely no doubt about it. Suffering happens in war. Why does it matter what caused the suffering? Chemical weapon, normal bomb, fire, building collapsing and crushing a person, bullet, whatever, they're all going to cause suffering. I don't think that it matters. Suffering happens. Suffering in war happens. Innocent people die. Innocent people die in war. Syria is in a civil war. I guess it's been long enough that the decisions made by people who experienced the consequences of chemical weapons, and agreed that they were too horrible even for war, can be ignored to further some argument about Donald Trump being good or bad.

To equate a terrorist killing an American (I'll assume you're referring to a terrorist killing an American since my posts here have concerned Americans, not foreigners) to a Syrian killing another Syrian is ridiculous.
Is it sad that innocent Syrians are dying? Yes, of course it is. But the reality is that they are in a civil war. People die in civil wars, innocent people included. We had our own civil war. It isn't fun.
Ask yourselves: how the heck does a civil war in Syria have any impact on Americans? It doesn't. Well, until we take out the guys who keep terrorists at bay, then ISIS takes over and grows in power, allowing them to hurt Americans.

Personally, I'd like see photos of the chemical delivery vehicles used if Syrian planes really did carry out the attack.

Bombing an airport with advance notice will make for all sorts of headlines but doesn't set Assad back very far at all.

ITT: some people have zero fuking clues as to how powerful the US military is. We spend more than the next 25 countries on earth on military COMBINED. Of which, 24 are allies.
What happened today as far as cost goes would be like me firing a single 124grain 9mm FMJ at an intruder in my home when I have 500,000 bullets in my garage. It's nothing. A drop in the bucket of military spending. Technologically speaking we have the largest military power in the world just in our navy on the water. That's not counting their backups of airforce and last resort marines/army/actual boots. There is no WWIII ever going to happen. Not in our lifetimes by a long shot.

I totally agree that neighbors should pitch in. Saudi Arabia should create safe havens for millions of refugees funded by Nato (equally).

Theres no good solution here. Middle east is fuked either way. This is probably trump's best option to dispel the russia conspiracy bs and make us look strong. Yeah it's a waste of tax money but so is bringing in mounds of refugees.
