Groggy eyed he peers over to the night table where his phone is charging, he notices the blinking LED signaling that he has a new notification. His heart palpitates as he succumbs to a flash of dopamine, could it be a new tinder match? one of his ex-girlfriends messaging him? Unable to contain his excitement he shuffles towards the table to unlock the phone, 'Software Update Available'. He sighs in disappointment only to be met with further dismay as he realizes the time, 5:45AM, his alarm will be going off in 30 minutes and thus begins another day of slavery. After rolling in his bed for 15 minutes trying to obtain more rest, he decides it is hopeless and gets up to head to the bathroom. He turns on the radio to be met with the morning traffic report. After hearing reports of all major highways being log-jammed due to construction and accidents he jadedly changes the frequency to 104.5FM to listen to the same empty formulaic songs he's heard playing for the past 3 months. He showers up, gets dressed, and heads to the main floor to microwave the breakfast he cooked last night - an egg burrito. He peers at his phone, 6:30AM, a jolt of panic emanates throughout his system as he realizes he has to leave now or he will be late to the office again. He was written up by his boss 2 weeks ago due to his abysmal punctuality, and cannot risk a repeat. He arrives to his office after a 1.5 hour commute - usually a 1 hour commute but the highway was condescend to 3 lanes due to construction closures. "Morning wagie, how are you?" to which he replies "Pretty good, how are you?" The same generic conversation permeates the office 5 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year. After 8 dreadful monotonous hours of inputting data into spreadsheets, replying to e-mails, taking phone calls, it is finally time to head home. He gets into his car only to run into the same delayed commute as the morning. He gets home at 6:30PM and checks his phone for any notifications. There is one, an e-mail from his boss - "Going to need you to come in this Saturday, account is getting busy".
