Getting ready to go shoot. Apparently this is the course of fire...

6.5.1 Course of Fire The course of fire consists of five minutes of sighting shots and 10 shots for record for each team member at 300 yards on the 300-yard highpower target and five minutes of sighting shots and 10 shots for record for each team member at 600 yards on the 600-yard highpower target. Each team fires a total of 40 shots for record.
6.5.2 Preparation and Sighting Periods A three-minute preparation period precedes firing at each stage. After the preparation period ends, teams are given a five-minute sighting period when they can fire unlimited sighting shots. Each sighting shot will be pulled and scored without delay. Each relay will have only one sighting period before the 300-yard stage and one sighting period before the 600-yard stage. Teams may shoot their sighters from one or both rifles; one or both team members may fire sighters.
6.5.3 Record Firing
a) After the five-minute sighting period, the targets are withdrawn for one minute, spotters are removed and the targets are raised to half-mast.
b) While the targets are at half-mast, and 10 seconds before the first exposure, the command LOAD AND STANDBY will be given. After 10 seconds, targets will be exposed for 20 seconds. During this exposure, the team member who is shooting must fire one shot.
c) After the 20-second target exposure, targets are pulled and scored. After 20 seconds, targets are raised for another 20-second exposure with the spotter and scoring disc for the previous shot. The scorer will announce the value of the shot unless directed not to do so by the firing team.
d) This sequence will continue until the first shooter has fired 10 record shots. The Range Officer will announce TENTH AND LAST SHOT FOR RECORD prior to the 10th exposure. After the 10th exposure, the Range Officer will command CEASE FIRING…CLEAR ALL RIFLES AND INSERT SAFETY FLAGS.
e) After 10 exposures, targets will be withdrawn and remain in the pits for two minutes (with the last shot disc and scoring disc still in the target). During this time, team members will switch roles (the spotter becomes the shooter and vice-versa). 10 seconds prior to the first target exposure for the second shooter, the command REMOVE SAFETY FLAGS, LOAD AND STANDBY will be given. When the targets reappear, the second shooter must fire the first of his 10 rounds. This sequence continues until the second shooter has also fired 10 record shots.

The ported barrels are also really really loud indoors.

All good, thanks PP.

Both my oldest two gave two hoots when their younger sibling was born. My two year old doesn't want to let anyone else hold him

Also, some bad news...this hospital is not 1911 friendly.

Lol two your old looks like he's guarding little bro hid face says "don't fuk with MY little brother"

I think all hospitals are victim zones in IL. I try to comply with gun free zones (our signs are smaller), but honestly I just don't notice the signs usually, and my setup is comfortable enough that I really dont think about a gun on my hip at all now that I got the sharp grip tamed on the .45 Shield. My wife is really petite so she has to purse carry. I'm guessing the places she goes, she's legal about 50% of the time. The ticket is practically nothing on the first offense here for carrying where posted, and perhaps if I ever get a ticket I'll be more "mindful" but I carry concealed and that means even someone looking for printing etc would be unlikely to notice. I think in Wisconsin they can only fine you if you refuse to leave a GFZ. That's where IL will hopefully go as the CCW regs continue to evolve here.
Yeah I have Redwing 50 as my truck bag, it's a bit large for anything less than a 3 day. My favorite day hike pack is a larger size camel back pack. It's really light and just big enough to fit water, snacks, etc for my kids.

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B004NX44...ing=UTF8&psc=1

I have several of these bags too. They are pretty good. I have one loaded up with predator hunting stuff, and another I use for archery hunting. They are big enough to actually carry stuff, but will cinch down pretty small when not fully loaded. Lots of pockets to keep stuff organized. The only thing I don't like about the SOC is it doesn't have a rigid support so you have to load it so nothing is causing it to ride weird.
I had intended to just look at some different options at REI, but then of course I ended up leaving with a new pack.

https://www.rei.com/product/111299/o...tratos-36-pack

I had a 20% off coupon still, and it felt so nice on my back when I put 20 lbs in it and walked around the store lol. It's pretty light, and on the small side, but hopefully that will help me not pack extraneous crap when I want to go do a 2-3 day trip in the woods. It'll be nice for day hikes with the family as well, since I end up being the one to pack extra water, everyone's rain gear, etc. The RW50 is what I usually use, but it's about twice the weight of this Osprey and bigger than I need for most stuff.

Can Conceal carry in your car with IA permit I believe. It's still nearly impossible for out of state people to get a permit. Nothing is "substantially similar" to the idiots running the state.

Pack looks great Nick. REI can be pricey but have decent sales and coupons. That's about the size of my big camel back pack I use most of the time for day hikes. It was a discontinued model but it's light and big enough to mule the wife and kids crap for a day out. I could pack it for a day or two solo. I always end up bringing more stuff than I need. My Redwing 50 is at about 50lbs just gear. That's everything I need for about anything though including shelter (hammock, tarp, straps) tools, cooking etc. kind of my in car have everything bag. I keep a separate empty bag I could load with minimal stuff from big pack.

Correct. It's always in my car

I actually went and did the training for my Illinois permit even though I knew they wouldn't give it to me. Their current excuse is that Iowa doesn't share mental health records with them

And that really matters because obviously some unhinged lunatic looking to come shoot up this $hithole state, would surely want to have the proper documentation to carry a concealed weapon legally prior to illegally murdering people.....That's our democratic controlled government for ya.
