I know the fine print most likely allows United to do this, but you can't just put anything you want into a contract. There are certain consumer protections you have to follow.

In fact this entire thing forced everyone else to be late.
It's a crap policy airlines do, but you gotta abide by the rules buddy, as a doctor he should know that.
Yes they should not have forcefully removed him like that, not sure who gave authority to them.

One of the Aviation cops has been put on leave
http://www.9news.com.au/world/2017/0...irlines-flight
http://www.9news.com.au/world/2017/0...irlines-flight
A police officer who was involved in dragging a passenger off a United Airlines flight has been placed on leave after his actions were deemed not in line with standard procedure.
Three officers were filmed ripping a man from his seat and into the aircraft's aisle on the overbooked Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville on Sunday.
The Chicago Aviation Department has not named the officer in question, but said it did not condone the officers' actions, the New York Post reports.
United Airlines said it had asked four volunteers to give up their seats on the flight to allow staff seats and security were called after one passenger refused to leave the plane.
According to witnesses, the man – who claimed to be a doctor – explained he had to get home to see patients and could not volunteer to give up his seat.
Tyler Bridges, a passenger on the flight, said the man became agitated as he was continually asked to leave and at one point reportedly yelling "I'm being selected because I'm Chinese".
Mr Bridges, who was among at least two passengers to film the incident, said one of the officers reached over to the man as he sat in his window seat and pulled him into the aisle.
He said the man went limp after hitting the floor.
"It looked like it knocked him out," Mr Bridges told The Washington Post. "His nose was bloody".
After being dragged off the plane, the "dazed and confused" man reportedly runs back onto the plane calling out: "I have to go home. I have to go home".
United Airlines chief executive Oscar Munoz labelled the incident as "upsetting" and has apologised to customers.
"This is an upsetting event to all of us here at United. I apologise for having to re-accommodate these customers," he said in a statement to Twitter.
He said the airline is working with authorities and will conduct its own detailed review of the incident.
"We are also reaching out to this passenger to talk directly to him and further address and resolve this situation," he said.

Unreal that all these cucks just sat there shouting stop stop omg help
spineless individuals. rather film something then step in (or volunteer to sit off the plane, collect $800 + accommodations)
I always volunteer to miss a flight when they over book. brb free hotel for the night brb $600-$800 in vouchers to use at a later date.

In regards to your detectived quote: Yeah, mainlandChina. I also lived in Taiwan for 2 years. And if you listen to the Chinese, they'll tell you that's China too. So it counts. And I could already speak and read Chinese when I went to the PRC, so it didn't take long to see what things are like there. And I also had an encounter with the police where I did nothing wrong, and they tried to blame me, but I knew their tricks and refused to sign anything. Similar to pretty much every white person who stays in China long enough. Eventually you will be extorted or arrested for nothing.

This was taken from reddit
"I was on this flight and want to add a few things to give some extra context. This was extremely hard to watch and children were crying during and after the event.
When the manager came on the plane to start telling people to get off someone said they would take another flight (the next day at 2:55 in the afternoon) for $1600 and she laughed in their face.
The security part is accurate, but what you did not see is that after this initial incident they lost the man in the terminal. He ran back on to the plane covered in blood shaking and saying that he had to get home over and over. I wonder if he did not have a concussion at this point. They then kicked everybody off the plane to get him off a second time and clean the blood out of the plane. This took over an hour.
All in all the incident took about two and a half hours. The united employees who were on the plane to bump the gentleman were two hostesses and two pilots of some sort.
This was very poorly handled by United and I will definitely never be flying with them again."
So that person obviously didn't have chit going on the next day but wanted to RAPE united for 1600 bucks.

If the United Airlines can't properly board the plane in a civilized fashion, then United Airlines is incompetent.
Read that somewhere and it's really hard to disagree with that.

I'm usually against being being litigious over stupid stuff they earned (like suing McDonald's for burning yourself with coffee) but if this story 100% accurate as being presented, I hope that poor bastard sues the Fu&% out of United. That was just disgusting to watch.

After recollecting my thoughts and not being at work, I switch my belief and point the finger at united. Standby passengers that have United employee status do not have flight privilege over a paying customer who was on time. If that customer was late, then it would be a different story. United was trying to weasel their employee into a seat thinking they could get away with it. I don't know the entire story but I assume this is the scenario.
Anyways, I fly united next week, lets brainstorms ideas to make me some cash.
