It really is shootable? I've been eyeing the performance Center 45 too. I'm just worried that it'll be a bitch to shoot. Also curious what bullet velocity is out of a short ported barrel.
I only shot 100 rounds of American Eagle red box 230g through it, which is rated at 890 fps. Shot 100% reliable. Who knows what the actual velocity will end up being but I think the ported thing is way overblown. I will probably be carrying some hot-ass 185 or 200 grain +P with it. I need to look at my .45 ammo situation.

Speaking of all this, it's been a while since I bought a new gun. Hardly anyone here even does FFL transfers anymore apparently. Apparently a lot of them are "taking a stand" against California (as if that does anything but hurt your own business, idgi). I had to call a handful of places before the new Bass Pro we got recently will do one.

When I transferred my shield the FFL fee (I didn't check beforehand...should have known better) was$50...the cheapest basic shield in their case was $419.
IDK how they expect people to buy anything from them or use them for a transfer more than once.
IDK how they expect people to buy anything from them or use them for a transfer more than once.
She's asked me on numerous occasions to help advise ways to make the shop better. We have a long list of mutual friends and she knows I know Dick about guns, but I can sell. And I'm always happy to help out.
Issue number one is pricing. I bought my 5" M&P PC for 579.99 with a 10 dollar transfer. The 4.25" model of that exact same gun was in her case for $821. ON SALE (!!!!) for $789!! Sorry. That's insane. I literally showed her the emailed receipt for my gun....and the picture I took of her case.
The second issue her, is that most gun shops are full of guys that are super technical gun nerds......but ****ing suck with people, and suck even worse at "selling." My shop has don eagle job getting rid of these types....but I stop in a lot of shops as I travel, and there are still a large number of them around. Selling is a relationship business, people don't want to omen to a shop where they feel intimidated and looked down upon.
The third issue is simply understanding economic drivers. The margin percentage on a gun is pretty damn small as Relent points out. However, the margins on the accessories are often 4-5 times as high as the firearm itself. And most shops do a **** job of selling those. "You're gonna love this Glock 19! What do you plan on carrying it in? How do you plan on cleaning it?" Gotta add the " fries."
I asked her flat out last time she was complaining to me if the sho was a hobby or a business. If it's a hobby, no problem. I'd love if I could scratch out a living playing with guns all day every day. But if its a business, it needs tobe run that way.

I just did bench. Worked up to 180lbs x5 (PR) with 25lbs jumps and now I will take off 80% of that and do some work. Sort of a Madcow top set and 531 3x5 @ 80% thing. Did 175lbs just a couple days ago for a PR as well.
BUT for squats, which I need to work on, a belt will be coming into play sometime soon. I think.
