OP, a few years ago I watched them all in order. Have you ever done that? I've flip flopped on Connery and Moore but I think Connery's first three films still are peak Bond and Moore was too script dependent.

Not in order no, sounds a great idea though

Nothing wrong with Connerys films, they built the franchise. Most faithful to the books in character and style.

I think Fleming would have hated Moore, but tbh I don't care. I enjoy his films the most. Art, writing, adaptions, everything evolves. Would Shakespeare have approved of Olivier playing Henry V in a film, if he had even understood the concept? anything performed outside of the globe theatre would have been sacrilegious to him, I'm sure

Whilst I'm not a DC fan, i also don't think he is the problem. Brosnan wasn't the problem either. It's the films themselves. It started with goldeneye (not that bad I admit, but I can pinpoint the exact moment the rot started):

The plane/skydive stunt at the start. Complete nonsense. Up until then, pretty much everything you saw in JB was actually done by a stuntman. If that stunt in goldeneye had actually been done, you'd have a very different movie. As it was, it took me out of the film and I never got back into it. This reached its nadir in the excreable DAD.

They did scale back the digital effects with Craig, but invented new problems, chiefly utterly illogical plotting. Implausible describes most action adventure films, and certainly all bond films, but skyfall, I mean, really? What the hell is going on? It's so illogical, it makes damn all sense at all.

I don't know if the magic is ever coming back. I'd love to see fassbender personally, but the productions have to go in a different direction altogether for any actor to make a horse race of them

Mate you're clearly biased towards the old school Bond films. The whole movie was a masterpiece fella and the ending was superb, takes you on a rollercoaster of different emotions.

OP failed hard on my questions. Thought you were a Bond expert but haven't even seen Quantum of Solace nor know his favorite thing to eat?

Eggs, typically scrambled - Bond's go to meal. Fukkin lol at caviar.

He dranksixVesper martinis on the train in Quantum. Slightly drunk (rarely if ever seen in the franchise) and there was no indication that he was stopping at six drinks, so he could have went on to drink four more for all the audience knows. The point of the question was really when in the series has Bond really gotten hammered for the sake of getting hammered - well Quantum of Solace is one of those films. Underrated too.

I didn't like CR enough to bother with QoS especially after it got poor reviews. I will have a look next time it's on the box just for the sake of it. Absolutely loathed skyfall, pretty much as bad as DAD, for different reasons.
