Yeah rats are pretty dope tbh. Chill/smart animals. Sad story with a situation that pretty much never happens when buying from a pet store.

I got a pet Tarantula back in 1995, just because I wanted a weird pet. It would live only a couple years top, right? It died almost 2 years ago.

Anyways, get any animal, there are risks. It wouldn't be the first time a rat has been known to carry a disease. People die from diseases caused by their cats and dogs too.

Why get a rat when you can get a cat instead?

Then the cat will eat the rat.

The jury on Thursday found that Petco did enough to warn the boy’s family of the possible risks and dangers of owning a pet rat, and therefore was not negligent in the boy’s death.
Yeah maybe warn people not to buy a ****ing rat as a pet? which are known to carry disease. The sick little bastards..

Parents at fault here. Killed their son.
Its not really anybodys fault imo

Armadillos can carry leprosy. Leprosy like your fukking bodyparts rot off. Like id rather have aids. This is why you should never touch one alive or dead and if ones in your garden you dont have to freak out but be aware if it touched something this hour dont go in there and pick tomatoes it was nibbling or whatever. Armadillos are also cute as f. If pet stores sold them some ******* would buy one even after being told theres a 1 in 500,000 chance of getting leprosy from it.

Its $40 to test the rat. The solution is none get sold to the public without being tested. Price of a rat will jump to $45. Government mandate. Or we just say the thrill of having a pet rat is worth the horrible death of 1 in 500,000 people. We do this everyday with numerous things you buy that could kill you.

Lol @ everyone "just get a dog". You do realize having a dog is like having another kid that you'll be taking care of for 10-15 years. Having a rat is basically nothing. My parents got me a rat to see if I could handle responsibility before they let me have a dog.
