stop race baiting, jesus.

you want me to say black people birthed blues.

But how does that in anyway contradicts this thread? Stop acting like you have a point. I ignored your post for a damn reason.

The difference is blues is SUPPOSED to be, well, BLUESY. It's somber, it's slow, it's sad. That's the entire purpose of the genre. It doesn't pretend to be something it's not.

With rock music, these white musicians TRY to be happy/upbeat with their songs, but it never actually comes off genuinely joyous music.

Like I said in the very first post, even with supposedly happy songs like Queen's We Are the Champion, SONICALLY, it comes off bleak and depressing. It's weird and I honestly couldn't explain it to you even if I tried.

The combination of rock vocals (which are horrendous in general, in terms of technical ability, power, passion), the sound the guitar naturally makes, and coupled this with musicians who are generally depressed druggies themselves, this all naturally leads to depressing, joyless music.

brb trying to say rock music isn't depressing by bring up the fact that it's based of a depressing genre of music made by depressed black men from the 1920s
brb surel this will prove my point that rock music isn't soul suckingly depressing
brb surely this proves OP wrong

this is precisely what I mean when i say rock music attracts the most pretentious people.

Rock *******s are the only mouth breathers who care about how "technical" and praises a song purely by technical standard.

this is exactly the type of souless people I'm talking about.

If you listen to music, and ignore all the emotions and joy it can evoke, and all you give a fuk about is how technical it is, perhaps you are lacking a soul, which would explain why you would be attracted to such souless music such as rock in the first place.

it's so fkn pompous and pretentious to say such and such song only has merit if it's technical to play.

nobody gives a fuk about this nonsense except these pretentious rock listeners. But it's mostly white rock listeners.

Music at is core definition is simply SOUNDS that evokes uplifting emotions. nobody gives a fuk how technical it is.

This is why the Chainsmokers is number 1 in billboard currently and not some garage rock band nobody gives a fuk about.

EDM Djs hitting a few buttons on their IPAD making beautiful music > your souless obscure guitar god who nobody's heard of or give a damn about.

Musical evolution of the fittest is simply taking place.

Rock has been slowly dying since the late 90s. Hip hop, pop, rap, are all way more popular today with the kids, and it's not even close.

Rock is dying because it simply does not make sense in a diverse society.

You have many groups of people all trying to get along, the last thing they need is some suicidal depressed rock music. Kids today bond over trap, house, EDM, hip hop, pop.

Kids dont sit around and discuss that ****gy time music by Zepplin and fkn Fleetwood Mack ROFLMAO.

rock music is for your grandparents and country bumpkins, brah.

rock vocals are fkn terrible dude.

with the exception of maybe Freddie Mercury and that guy from Journey, the vast majority of rock vocal sounds like horsechit.

it all sounds like generic, labored, constipated grunting.

Clearly rap has rhythm, meaning rock has rhythm. The difference? It is not spoon fed easy to follow rhythm like the music styles you claim have rhythm.
Therefore, you must only be able to follow simplistic easy to follow rhythm.
you have such terrible reasoning ability, it's really embarrassing. on top of that, it's disingenuous.

really, rock has rhythm, which is why it's such a popular choice for dance music, right? Surely that's right, because you just see a TON of choreograph dancing to rock music! People are totally known to break out into rhythmic dancing when pink floyd comes on!

protip: there's a scientific and evolutionary reason as to why the stereotype that white people can't dance persists, and it has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with the fact that white people's preferred music of choice just happens to be rock music, a genre of music that's literally un-danceable to. ergo, you guys can't dance for ****, not because you don't have the ability to, but you choose the most undanceable music imaginable.

pls stop trying to be debate, you're really bad at it.

pls no mod neg.

Side note: Chuck Berry died recently and I was reading up on him. It shows how perceptive he was when he changed Johnny B Good lyrics from "Oh my, but that little colored boy could play" to "Oh my, but that little country boy could play" in order for it to get on the radio for a lot larger of an audience.

its cool, brah.

imma be over here grinding on asian sloots while joyous, rhythmic, happy kpop music blasts in the background as we groove, jive, dance and grind all night long.

you and the rest of your long hair'd bros can sit in the corner and TOTALLY get deep into thought about how technical, deep, and meaningful pink floyd's music is, while air guitaring your buddy's dink.

and bro, nobody respects rock music anymore, as evident by the fact that it's been slowly dying since the mid 90s LOL.

As society become more diverse, and kids grow up listening to every kind of music, they realize rock is depressing emo garbage and has no place in a healthy, happy society.

This is why rock music has been an afterthought for damn near 20 years now.

nobody respects that chit because it;s subpar trash made by druggies and perpetually suicidal people.

There's a reason why it's associated with school shooters.

im gonna raise my kids on joyous music so they know what it's like to enjoy life.

Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys, Tiesto, Aoki, Future, Kpop, is all that will be played in this household.

I was raised on 40's-50's rock n roll, jazz, blues, pink floyd, then hair metal of the 80's, then rap, then country, then Linkin Park era music. Now I like opera, classical, symphonic metal (Dimmu Borgir comes to mind), and trip-hop (hungry lucy comes to mind). My dad and my oldest brother are extremely big music fans of all kinds.

My moms brothers hung out with Elvis, Big Bopper, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and many others when they would roll through town in Memphis/Arkansas.

We were also raised on Rodgers and Hammerstein classics, Disney, etc....music was a huge deal around our house. I don't think science has proven any correlation to depression and really anything because some people have the capacity to rise above, some fall below.....its the person and how they react to their environment before you can make such brave/bold statements.

But what does all of this matter? You're a red and you won't listen to reason/logic.

i somewhat understand what OP is pointing out. Not sure if I agree to a full extend.

I've been listening to radio more lately. I listen to DC's Rock station and these guys don't even play rock music anymore. Mainly Strumbellas, raghead, 21 pilots type and other non-rock songs are in the loop. I like what they are playing but to me, thats not rock or alt rock.

The only thing I can say about OP's argument is that it is a cultural thing, and deeper than that would be a racial thing. I get it. Most true guitar players, drummers, bass players (instruments in general) would listen to something like BackStreet Boys, Jay Z, Justin Bieber, whatever, and cringe. It lacks substance. Where are the key changes, the time signature differentials, the layered instrumentation played by real musicians? It's like most of it is made by the push of a button. I fall into this category. It's not real music because it lacks real vision. It takes less talent to do, but it is somehow extremely popular. Probably because it plays to the lowest common intellectual denominator (no hate, OP, it is what it is). It evokes joy to these people because it is... simple.

Alternatively, to someone who is into that type of stuff mentioned above, instrumentation, with varied vocals, and complex time signatures with screaming guitar riffs hurts their ears. You have to have an appreciation of the music you're listening to before you can enjoy it. That sounds cliche' but true. I used to listen to Bone Thugs N Harmony. They had some talent, albeit it as far as I knew it wasn't with an instrument other than their words. I love, love, love Chuck Berry, Percy Sledge, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, and harder stuff like Jimi Hendrix (hehe, my screen name). Most of the musicians just mentioned wrote material or borrowed material that had a melodic tonal center.

How butt devastated are you right now knowing in 15 years, normal decent human beings like myself, will look at people like you, who listen to this terrible garbage genre, as degenerate, social outcasts who purposely listen to self destructive, depressing, joyless music?

how mayyad are you right now that, thanks to minorities like me, rock music will be dead given another 15 years and EDM/HipHop/Pop/Kpop will have completely taken over the wester world?

How butt devastated are you right now knowing in 15 years, normal decent human beings like myself, will look at people like you, who listen to this terrible garbage genre, as degenerate, social outcasts who purposely listen to self destructive, depressing, joyless music?

yeah, you'll be VERY mad.

kids today still play tupac's california love despite the song being older than they are? why? because it's a joyous song that makes you want to bop your head.
they still play Michael's Thriller because the beat is timeless and everyone dances to that chit
they still play Backstreet Boys because the love songs will still invoke innocent puppy love to millenials
they still play Marvin Gaye because Sexual Healing still invokes sexual tensions with young lovers

you'll catch no kids playing fkn stairway to heaven or bohemian rhapsody at a fkn house party, because that chit is a buzz kill and only depressed FAs listen to that chit.
LMAO op i aint having this no more at first i was getting kinda rustled but you've just exposed yourself with this bullchit.

no they wont play stairway to heaven the same as they wouldn't play 2pacs dear mama
no they wont play bohemian rhapsody same way they wouldn't play Micheal jacksons Ben

you'll still get kids (why you bothered what the kids doing anyway freak) who'll gonna go nuts for:

sweet child o mine, paradise city, welcome to the jungle, rock n roll all night, twist and shout, whiskey in the jar, proud mary, johnny b goode, anything by oasis, living on a prayer, dont stop believin', road house blues and hundreds more thats just scrapping the surface of what springs to mind
