anyone who's played football at a decent level and isn't biased will tell you Messi is by far the better player, I can't even believe people still bring up the comparison unless they're trying to create a useless discussion between biased fans
I mean it's 2017 we've seen both of them play for well over a decade now
cr7's turned into an impressive goal scoring machine though, his stats remain insane

Turns out he was dog chit all along. You can't be a great player if you're loyal to one club your whole career.

There's definitely some weird phenomenon with football fans. Certain players get massive amounts of respect for playing for one team their whole career. Players like Totti, Scholes, Maldini get their nuts sucked dry for being loyal. But they'll criticise Messi all day long for sticking with Barca.

Nobody would give him shiet about staying in Barca, but Argentina is also stacked with talent and he doesn't perform quite as well there. Ronaldo on the other hand won the Euro's with a bunch of over the hill players.

Comparing a manager to a player...
Messi would crush PL teams. We will never find out, we should just take the CL spankings as evidence enough.

As others have already said, the gruelling EPL sched combined with the fact that you actually have to worry about 6-8 other teams rather than 1 or two would make a huge difference. Not to mention the more physical english game and the lack of outright "superteams" like you have with Barca.
Messi's a generational talent but it's hard to respect him until he takes up another challenge.
I prob respect Ibra more than anyone else for that very reason.

You could argue Ronaldo played in a super team at United with his only contention being a Arsenal on the decline and a Chelsea here and there. On a week to week basis? For a whole season? I doubt it.

The south americans that hack at his legs in the copa are proof enough that he can cope i would say.
You guys all look at stats and player stature and **** like that while comparing players and teams, but you cant do that in a sport like this, thats shy we all argue about who the best is. Isco for example would be a starter last year for Barca, While Busquets would still be a ballboy for Real lmao

Ronaldo is an opportunist while Messi creates goals, scores goals and provides goals all by himself. Just admit it you like Ronaldo as a person and the way he looks more than you like him as a player. Just remember aesthetics doesn't equal skill.

Using your pace to outrun defenders is easy when you're faster than your opponent which is what Aguero and Hazard do but beating your opponents, going past them using just your superb dribbling and close control is something you can't teach, you must be God gifted to do it and that's what Messi doesits because hes ****ing 5 feet tall and doesnt get hacked the same way ronaldo does, its harder for a tall person to slither through defenses in EVERY sport.

both are absolutely legends. ronaldo is an elite forward that uses every opportunity to strike, messi creates room for his peers, scores from everywhere and is the best dribbler ever.
the difference for me is how they "create" goals. ronaldo - though he has insane stats - is more of a classical forward. he struggles to overcome even one defender while messi manages to fight off 3 or even 4 defenders at the same time. no player - not even maradona - has been able to do that as well as messi.
it would be difficult to replace ronaldo, but it would be impossible to replace messi.
so for me, its clearly messi, even though ronaldo is a fantastic player and rightfully the second best of this era.
