CCW holders never stop mass shootings . . . except when they do.

Well well well...

Link:http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/goo...ice/ar-BBAL3Gc

A "good Samaritan" with a gun killed an active shooter who may have been gearing up for a deadly rampage at a Texas sports bar Wednesday night, police said.

When 48-year-old James Jones walked inside the Zona Caliente Sports Bar, started yelling and then allegedly shot and killed Cesar Perez — a 37-year-old restaurant manager who'd attempted to calm him down — Arlington police said witnesses were afraid they would be next.

In addition to the gun used to kill Perez, police say Jones had another semiautomatic pistol and two knives on him. The serial number on the second gun had been scratched off, and Jones did not have a gun license, police said.

"He definitely had the capacity, if he wanted, to commit further violence and potentially kill other patrons in the business," Arlington Police Lieutenant Chris Cook told NBC News, adding that it did not appear that the shooter knew his victim.

An armed"good Samaritan" — as the Arlington Police labeled him— happened to be eating at the restaurant with his wife. A concealed carry permit holder, he told her to get down on the ground and then shot Jones in the back.

"We're thankful that the good 'Samaritan' acted quickly and decisively to end the threat," Cook said. "We never recommend people get involved. That's a personal decision that a citizen has to make."

Use of force and firearms expert Emanuel Kapelsohn told NBC News that, from his understanding, the man who took down the shooter reacted appropriately.

"I think it's to be applauded," he said. "Not everybody in the world ought to own a gun. Not everybody in the world ought to carry a gun. Not everyone in the world ought to engage an armed criminal where innocent people could be potentially injured."

"But this good Samaritan obviously had the ability to do what he did," Kapelsohn added."Who knows how many people would be dead if he had not acted?"

b-b-but gun control!!!!

Das it mane. Good on him and wish there were more well educated gun owners just like him. Wish I was in a state that made concealed carry easier.

“When you allow people to carry concealed handguns, you see changes in the behavior of criminals,”Lott told Fox News about the recent study’s findings.“Some criminals stop committing crimes, others move on to crimes in which they don’t come into contact with victims and others actually move to areas where they have less fear of being confronted by armed victims.”

I always wondered if there was a mass shooting in a ccw state what if like 5 ppl pulled out their guns at the same time trying to be heros then it turns into a free for all shootout cus all the guys think the other guys are in on the mass shooting.

If everyone carried a gun, or at least those responsible enough to do so, violence would decrease. Because those that commit violent acts would fear being shot and or killed. It's really that simple. I'm not suggesting every single person be armed, because there's a lot of full-autists out there that should have nothing to do with a weapon.... but, even if most "normal" humans were armed, the autists would know, and they would think twice about committing an act of crime.

Depends on the state. Some states restrict it.

Here in Vermont, anyone can carry open or concealed without a permit. You can carry in bars, you can carry while drinking alcohol. Only places you can't carry are schools, courthouses, state buildings.

We have ZERO gun control, and we are also the safest state in the nation decades running.

Depends on your state. In CA you can carry in a place that serves alcohol but you can't drink. You can't carry in a bar (a place whose main business is selling alcohol).

I read something like 1 in 10 people in Texas carry. I would be surprised if it was 1 in 100 here in MN. Only 5% of people in MN have a permit and most people with a permit don't EDC.

Last September a CCW holder shot a Muslim who stabbed 10 people in MN at a mall I regularly go to.
we have not spent the last 65 million or so years finely honing our physiology to watch Oprah. Like it or not, we are the product of a very long process of adaptation to a harsh physical existence, and the past couple centuries of comparative ease and plenty are not enough time to change our genome. We humans are at our best when our existence mirrors, or at least simulates, the one we are still genetically adapted to live. And that is the purpose of exercise. - Mark Rippetoe

Because Samaritans are an actual ethnic/religious group. The author is showing he means a figurative good samaritan, not an actual Samaritan.

I suppose you haven't heard of Suzanna Hupp.

She left her gun in her car, in Texas, back when carrying a handgun was illegal there, because she wasn't 'allowed' to have it in the restaurant.

As a result of that decision she watched as both of her parents were murdered in front of her. That man shot 44 people, killing 24. Because the restaurant patrons followed the law while the criminal did not (imagine that, eh?)

*Technically I think she only watched her father get murdered as he rushed the shooter but was shot in the chest and killed, her mother was killed as Suzanna was running to escape and she probably didn't actually see the moment her mother died.

Yes I will, not interested in legal trouble dealing with a loaded weapon...that isn't going to be a slap on the wrist. And if you do end up shooting someone you will be broke because whether you stopped an armed robber or not you will be sued in civil court easily. Yes better alive than broke, but say I accidentally print and the bartender sees it...yeah no thanks on taking that risk.

So you carry no matter where it is, legal or not? Serious question because I would not be comfortable doing that at all.
