Oops.
In all honestly it makes sense - the GOP has maxed out its votes.

Clinton lost because of low dem turnout. Bush in 2004 got more votes in Michigan than Trump got. Romney in 2012 got more votes in Wisconsin than Trump did. Trump equaled Romney's vote total in Minnesota but Romney lost it by a bigger margin because Obama had typical Dem turnout.

I wouldn't brag about the ability to win elections like that. It spells doom.

They are so hell bent on the demographic changes that they don't take everything into consideration. Two of them are...

1. Demographic changes are important, but when you are literally shoving the people into states you already own it does nothing to help you in the electoral college. Putting a million Mexicans and California, just means more popular votes. Put a million Mexicans in Georgia and all of a sudden chit gets interesting.

2. The white vote is still by far the most powerful voting block, and its not even close. They said that there were 4 million more Hispanics this time around than last election. Great, sound like a lot. But then you have to think, just getting a shift in the white vote by 2% completely wipes out that Hispanic growth. Just get 2% more white people to vote for you, and an additional 4 million Hispanics just got nullified.

What we see is:

1) People getting dissatisfied with the current status-quo.

2) Marxists and communists getting soundly beaten (Bernie was crushed, Melenchon defeated, Hollande's approval in single digits, Corbyn in the dumpster).

3) Far-right parties becoming more popular than ever (this is a bad thing in general, but they are currently the only people who defend national sovereignty).

All this points to the eventual emergence of strong center-right nationalist parties who advocate for tight immigration control (but not mass deportations/killings/concentration camps) & pro-market policies (but not unrestrained global capitalism).

Very few people want a Le Pen to actually hold power. But do not fool yourself into believing that people voted for the left. The left was crushed, absolutely decimated. Macron is a centristinvestment bankerwho will likely shrink the French state a little.
When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

I don't know enough about Japan. But I know Germany was not American right wing. The government wouldn't have that much control in a true American right wingers wet dream. Germany was a mix of right and left wing concepts. You can't put it solidly on either side relative to our current "sides" and how we view them. And as another poster pointed out, you can't mix social and economic policies...you have to address each of those separately.

See Texas or Arizona's demographics lately?

Even North Carolina is becoming minority-majority. North Carolina was won by Bush 56-42 in 2004, but is now a full blown swing state to the point the NC GOP has to suppress votes.

Virginia was a GOP stronghold 1964-2004 (Clinton couldn't even win it in the 90s!) but now thanks to demographics is a blue state.

The white vote is not as powerful anymore. The fact Trump barely won the electoral college and lost by 3 million votes shows the GOP has to do more to win Latino and black voters.

Also, a lot of the white vote is old people - people dying off. In Texas, 70% of those under 5 are non-white. What's your plan against that?

BTW if more right wingers were like you I'd respect them more.

That's largely due to people from the northeast moving there.

Shifting demographics in places like North Carolina and Virginia matter. But things aren't happening at the rate that people paint it because a majority of the shift in the Hispanic vote (for instance) is happening in places like California and New York...or Texas where its getting drowned out. When people put up demographics and show the numbers, its always important to have context. I think the lack of context is part of the reason the Dems lost this time. They went so hard after the minority vote at the expense of the white vote and they alienated themselves from some white voters. Again, all it takes is a small shift in white voting and it can be millions of votes.

I care about what happens next but I'm probably going to be alright no matter what. I would just hate to see the country turn into one big California. Cali can survive their policies because they are Cali. You'd bankrupt a state like Arkansas (for instance) if you put in Cali policies. Personally I was hoping that the GOP was going to have a more Mexican friendly platform this time, and they ended up the opposite. The reason why I say that is because Mexicans in general have a lot more in common with the GOP than Dems. If the Dems shift their economic policies to something more realistic and sustainable...I'd have no issues with Dems running the show.

Yep, and that's exactly what Trump did. He won 58% of the white vote which represents 70% of the total vote. That's why when a group as large as this gets behind a candidate you have to have almost perfect turnout from the other side to offset it. Which Hilldog did not have.

Romney won 59% of the white vote but got destroyed.

Trump won because of poor Dem turnout. Nothing more, nothing less. There was no wave.

If Trump got like 51% in Michigan and Wisconsin, and 52% in Pennsylvania and Florida then I'd be worried.

It's the minority turnout mostly. And younger whites are more liberal than ever before.

Trump got more votes than Romney in most of the swing states. He switch and motivated a lot of uneducated whites to either change their vote from D to R or to come out and vote for R. A lot of these folks happened to be in the swing states that gave him the election. Don't underestimate Trump's base.

Communist terror killed far more than the National Socialists. Stalin killed hundreds of thousands of his own people. 10 million Christians by the bolshevisks in the holodomor. The German stance was to stop it, as it was taking over Europe. Anybody with an once of knowledge on the topic knows this, unless all you read is from the marxist written account.

He had high turnout in rural areas (maxed them out) but lost votes in the suburbs. If he got about 75% of what Romney did in the suburbs he would have easily won the popular vote + Nevada, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and would have gotten within 1-2 in Colorado and Virginia.

If Trump had a wave similar to Obama in 2008 I may have been concerned. Like if he had a Bush 2004 wave.

Re: Hispanic votes
Those populations are growing the fastest in strong red states, particularly Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina and their growth is outpacing the white population in the first two and Florida. Virginia was a strong red state until recently and I wouldn't be surprised if Florida and NC lost their swing status next.

If the DNC were smart (kek) they would shift away from identity politics, more subtly push for civil rights "because it's right and fair," move more to the center economically, and keep the Hillary and Bernie/Warren camps in the basement where they belong. Alternatively, the GOP needs to admit it lost the culture war and ease up on abortion if they want to have a future. Basically, whoever mimics the Tories first wins in the long run.

God, I remember that. Pelosi said the DNC needs more new blood and younger leadership, then goes on to whip like crazy and wallop him in the minority leader vote. Rotten old kent needs to be shown the basement as well.

Asking illegal Mexicans not to enter our country illegally isn't a negative platform towards Mexicans.

I actually feel not taking care of this problem is discrimination towards my families when they both came in as immigrants the legal way.

Some would argue that Trump would have won the popular vote and more electoral votes but a) he ran a crap campaign and b) the Access Hollywood tape damaged him a bit.

It's super frustrating that this has happened to Dems not once, but TWICE in the past 16 years. Romney LOST the popular vote but right wingers lost their mind thinking he won it. So don't act like you wouldn't have been pissed if Trump won the popular vote but lost the electoral college.

Lol what? It's always right wingers that start the wars - the American Civil War was also started by right wingers. Leftists are peaceful.

Notice how Europe gets along now? Better than World War II started by right wingers.
No, I don't notice how Europe gets along great. The closeted
homosexual that's becoming the new President of France is threatening Poland with economic sanctions for not letting in rapefugees, for instance.

It was Democrats that seceded from the union. Also, the Gulf of Tonkin incident was manufactured by a Democrat administration to get America into a war with Vietnam.

You're clinging to the hope that Hillary won the race no one was running as an omen for things to come but the Democrats currently have no one appealing to run. But I hope all Democrats are as lazy and complacent because of their belief in inevitably as both you and Hillary.

Like a lot of people, I have a list of things I'd like to consider when placing my vote. However, my #1 is the economy/jobs. The Dems currently fail in that department, so I can't even get to #2, #3, #4, etc to consider.

If you haven't noticed, there hasn't been a World War in over 70 years thanks to leftism. Last thing we want to go back to is the rise of fascism pre-WWII!

Just say you want to get rid of those different than you and get it over with.
There were times after world war 2, that we were on the verge of another world war, and it had nothing to fascism.

You can enforce the law without having to go where Trump went on the subject. It just made for low hanging fruit for the Dems to grab ahold of and play identity politics with.

What's with this continued infatuation of uneducated whites, you crusty old man?

Are the black and Hispanic voting blocks high powered academics throwing their votes in for the democrats?

There's no such thing as "right wing populism". It's self contradictory - what dafuq is a "non-capitalist" capitalist? That's fukking nonsense.

Ideation will never beat materialism. You have to join hands with the immigrants (also known as "cheap capital" to our capitalist owners) and their descendents if you want to fight the banks and "globalism".

("Globalism" sure is really a tortured, roundabout euphemism for "capitalism", isn't it? Weird people gotta be weird, I guess.)

The top 1 percent will always rule over the rest. That is the way of human beings no matter what system is formally declared. It goes like this 1 percent rule, 19 percent administer, 80 percent follow.

Government control or capitalist that in turn influence the government or an established aristocracy, it doesn't matter. The cream rises to the top.
