This is easy to say, but if you have a suspect in front of you, with unknown intentions who is not obeying orders a cop will typically not have a taser drawn. It's easy to say "oh just taze him" but the facts are that any situation a police officer is in could turn out to be life and death. Countless routine traffic stops have ended with cops being shot and killed. They are trained to treat any suspect who is not obeying commands as hostile.

99% of people who just obey police orders will leave the incident just fine, maybe pissed off. If there was unfair treatment take it to authorities.

That's the problem right there. You and the officers have the same mentality.

Truly properly trained officers will know to asses each situation as unique and different......NOT to put a blanket over each situation as "this guy can kill me" or "other cops have been shot before doing this so I will shoot first"

Not everyone a cop pulls over is a criminal, not every person deserves the treatment cops give, not every cop is a bad cop........its the situation at hand.

From what I understand the car was on the side of the road due to malfunctions, why did she pull her gun on someone who was stuck on the side of the road?

why? Cause she was scared. Exactly as I have stated above.

She did not set out to murder anyone. Fear took over and she "thought" she was fending for her life.

She should be pushing papers. Not out on patrol. Pure and Simple

Being scared, nor improperly trained is no excuse to be able to kill someone and get away with it.

What should happen to her:
-Should never be able to be LEO again
-Never be issued a gun for work again

Don't know the information to the question you asked, but there is a lot of information I don't know. My statement is off the video ITT alone, and the helicopter one I saw. From that (assuming the officer is giving commands to stop while he's walking) this situation was assessed properly. Suspect not complying with police orders, turning back to the cop and walking towards a vehicle window. EDIT: If the cop had her gun drawn on some guy sitting at the steering wheel with hands on the wheel my opinion would be drastically different.

I see your point, however I just disagree with it. If I'm a cop and I have a family to get home to, I am going to be weary of anyone I interact with. You never know what a stranger is capable. Hell I'm cautious as hell around people now who are even somewhat suspicious when I'm out, hence why I carry a concealed weapon.

Am I paranoid? Yeah maybe.....but I'd prefer that then let my guard down at the wrong time and my daughter lose her father.

I agree with everything you said however, the difference between you and I is a pessimistic and optimistic approach to people. Maybe I am more offering to think not everyone has the potential or desire to hurt/harm me/my family.

It sucks this guy lost his life, it sucks he didn't listen to her commands if she gave commands (no audio).......better training needs to happen.....more people will be killed if not. This is just a fact, police officers are not trained well enough. Nor are they given routine PT tests, psych evals, etc etc.....

When they went from law enforcement, to crime prevention is when the training should have changed.....its dark ages. Pisses me off really......

I can agree with what you said for sure. I will admit that a lot of police departments have some pretty weak requirements for getting in, namely local small town PDS.

Audio on the ground is really the only thing that could clear up this situation. Since we don't have that both sides can only speculate about what really went on based on the camera footage.

Oh fuk lol its almost like if i had winning lotto numbers, i would win the lottery. In what world is a surveillance state the ideal situation? Maybe teaching the value of human lives, to people who shoot each other over shoes (white and black) is more valuable than HD cams on every street corner. Next time maybe you could refute the points of my argument with facts, not just call the other person 'low iq'.

You can't figure out why its bigger news when people in positions of authority kill on camera and are acquitted, compared to gang violence between predicate felons??

LOL @ all the armchair cops in here.

You pull up on a shady dude that isn't obeying commands and pull a tazer. Then be on the news and get your 21 gun salute and city wide memorial bc the dude was on hard drugs and the tazer didn't do chit.

Times have changed. People do weird and crazy stuff on a daily basis, take crazy stuff (bath salts wtf?!), etc. There are certainly some bad shooting and cops that belong behind bars but many of you are making ignorant statements about life and death situations where you have to LITERALLY make a split second decision that may mean not going home to your spouse and kids that night.

You made a ****ty go to comment by all blind sheep cop defenders. I refuted it. Now you're changing the goalposts.

Pcp and injectable anabolics are equally classified as controlled substances.. so i guess if you get shot in back with your hands up on side of road, we should find a better martyr.

Yeah just let them violate your civil rights and do whatever they say.

A cop better have a damn valid reason to even speak to me.
This is the kind of attitude that results in these tragic stories. There are plenty of dickhead cops but arguing with them and being smug or disobeying them will work in your favor 0/1000 times. If a cop is being unprofessional, or somehow violating your rights, you get his badge number/name and get some legal counsel to see what the next steps are. In the meantime, just swallow some pride and obey the cop.
