On the fence about this one. Not a fan, but if they'd kept their beagle on their their own property there wouldn't have been a problem. Unfortunately chit happens sometimes.

I don't particularly care for them, but I don't hate them either. I do find it amusing that its the breed of choice for the stupidest and most ignorant people on the planet though. Which makes me question why people who don't fall into that category specifically choose a Pitbull as a pet. I'm not saying everyone who owns them are ghetto/trashy. But its definitely the breed of choice for those individuals. That alone would deter me from ever wanting to own one.

I don't have anything against the dogs. But I also feel 0 sympathy for the people that are hurt/killed by a dog that is owned by them or their friend/family. I think its stupid as hell to raise an animal you can't control and that has the potential for that kind of danger. And that goes for any large breed dog that has those qualities.

like many have said pitbulls owner are degenerates trash. i don't care if there is responsible owners, why would anyone get a dog that require hundreds of hours of training and constant supervision when they're is many others breed who don't need that and would never attack anybody.
like op said they are insecure people with something to prove, even if they train their dog to be nice, it's still the violent and aggresive image that pitbulls have who motivated them to get the pitbulls, those people would never get a beagle, they would probably say it's a dog for *** or for pussies, that the kind of people 99% of pit owners are, and maybe 1% are just people who really love dogs

I've never met an aggressive one per se.
But I still find myself on alert when I'm around them. Especially when there are kids present.
I'm the same way with Yorkies too. Never met a mean pit, but nearly every Yorkie I've been around is fuking mean as chit

I own a rottweiler and would never allow him near kids unsupervised. He's a gentle boy but I make sure to never get complacent around him because once a dog turns there's no going back.

And in my opinion, it's the irresponsible douche bag owner thats "my Pitt is a gentle baby so cute" that get complacent and then their dog rips some kids to bits.

That being said it's well known pits are an aggressive breed so no thanks

more of less, that is the type of person who defends the "herrr derrr no leash not my dogs fault"

They're total trash. Man the beagle was so friendly too, I mean harmless. It was more of a joke if the dog got loose, kids would chase him or something. I didn't think it'd get its throat ripped open.

If it was my dog that pit would've been dead. No questions asked. Nothing. It would've been dead

Of course bro, I'm sorry that happened, it's fcuking awful - a friendly dog just doing what they do. I would've seen red and killed that pit too, done the whole neighborhood a favor.

I always use threads like these as opportunities to show off my babies. They are vicious, life-ending horrible doggos.

Also, when I was young a beagle bit me in the face.

Lastly, scum of the earth pitbull owner checking in. Very few tattoos and should crack a 6 figure income this year.

Had a pit while i was growing up (family dog) excellent dog, lived to be 14 years old, never harmed any other dogs, got a few mice and lizards but ive had other types of dogs since then and all of them have a prey drive and chase small rodents and reptiles, have some buddies with them and they seem to be really good. just my own experiences with them.

Deserved or not, whenever I see a pitbull owner, I immediately categorize them

Clearly the vast majority of pit bulls are perfectly fine, and probably the bad ones are products of their owners more than anything. That being said I feel the breed attracts a certain type of person/personality that only helps lend credence to the stereotype

But I do think it's important to actually know the facts of why there is concern over the aforementioned choking risks.

It wasn't that the kids choked on the "eggs" themselves, but that they swallowed small, non-edible plastic toys encased within the chocolate eggs that they seemingly weren't aware of. Apparently the product's company specifies that it "isn't intended for children under 3 years old and adult supervision is recommended". However, we all know that a lot of parents will overlook something like this, even if it is stupid to accidentally do so. Granted we can't police every toy/potential choking hazard, but the idea of enclosing a small toy in a chocolate does seem like a kind of stupid idea to me in particular. So I understand the concerns, at least.
That can't happen, the little pieces aren't encased inside the chocolate itself, but inside a plastic capsule which, as above, is too big to choke on.

Comparing all cars to a subset of dogs.
High performance cars do not have utility in society beyond being cars and are more dangerous, mostly due to (the irresponsibility of) their owners, than most cars. We should ban high performance cars.

That includes if the dog runs onto another person's property and gets mauled by their contained, leashed dog. I still view the pitbull aspect in this hypothetical case as an unnecessary and dumb risk for its owner to take by having it, but how many other breeds will attack an intruding strange dog on its territory? I'd bet a lot of German Sheps, Dobermans, and rotweillers will do the same thing as an aggressive pitbull would in that instance. You can't compare such a dog attack - which is defense of its property in any dog's mind in that instance - to pitbull's stronger likelihood of doing things like overpowering their owners to escape from their leashed grasp and then randomly attacking another dog or person.

What if your unleashed dog runs in front of a riding lawn mower on another person's property before they have time to react and stop, resulting in doggo getting shredded? Is that the lawn mower owner's fault? Like a pitbull - or any large dog breed - lawn mowers are potentially dangerous, and it was contained to the other person'e property just as much as a leashed dog.

It honestly pisses me off when owners of ANY dog breed feel entitled to let their dogs run free off leash. Unless it's safetly contained inside your home, a fenced area, or cage of some kind, don't let your dogs run off leash. It's fukking self-centered at best. Even if your dog is "friendly", a lot of people don't want to deal with it running wild and jumping on them/licking them and chit. That and no matter how well trained you think your dog is and how good it is at following a recall command, people who let their dogs off leash ALWAYS overrate how well it works, and people in public shouldn't have to worry about your dog. Also remember that not everyone likes dogs.

Cliffs -
Keep your dog(s) leashed out in public, regardless of breed. Stop expecting others to to put up with your entitled attitude about letting your dog roam unleashed.

You can't blame others if something bad accidentally happens to Rover because you decided not to keep him leashed and controlled off your property.
Agreed. I have a pit bull and it's on leash 100 percent of the time. I don't even let my mom walk the dog because he's stronger then her..same with my sister when she lived with us. When I signed the paperwork to adopt my dog it was in the contract he is to be on a leash in public at all times.

Lol at thinking if your dog ran into my yard and my dog attacked it that it's anything but YOUR fault for not watching your dog. ****in dumbass logic.

My dog got off his leash once and ran to my neighbors backyard and played with his dog. If he had attacked that dog I know for a fact it would have been one hundred percent my fault.

Keep your dog(s) leashed out in public, regardless of breed. Stop expecting others to to put up with your entitled attitude about letting your dog roam unleashed.

You can't blame others if something bad accidentally happens to Rover because you decided not to keep him leashed and controlled off your property.
OK i can agree that the dog owner has a responsibility to keep their own dog away from people and off others' property without consent. There's a split responsibility here for the good of society.

I think we all have a habit of shoving full responsibility to one side or the other, and I did that.
