I live in the American Gardens building on West 81st street. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

I wake up, take a chit, have some coffee and get going. When I'm out of bed, that's it I'm awake and 100% ready to go. I get to work in less than 10 mins and can't say I've missed a beat. Working out is for after work and showers are at night. Sets the mood for a restful night and helps with the allergies to take a hot shower. Then I hit the sack and let my body sleep soundly and heal. Then I wake up and hit it again.

I've practiced meditation and mindfulness for a few years, but eventually came to the conclusion that what really focuses my mind and sets my mood is thoughtfulness during cardio. I sometimes just hop on the stationary bike and just go for an hour. Intense cardio, doing HIIT for 10 mins here and there and just focusing my thoughts on what I want to accomplish in life, career, relationships, friendships, etc. I still meditate once in a while just because it feels good but I'm not sure it's necessary for everyone as a routine.

fukkin lmao at the ice cold poverty showers. My gas company shut my gas off this week due to a fukkin gas leak and I'm forced to take ice cold showers. It is the most brutal unnecessary thing you could ever do in the morning. It feels like chit and only wakes me up temporarily. Still just as tired as I woke up an hour later.

This is the kind of luxurious use of time only a wealthy person or a social-welfare/liberal could afford to do. Anyone else that works their ass off for a living is lucky to get 6 or 7 hours sleep, let alone dedicate 2 or 3 hours in the morning to be a more spiritual being.

if you know how to decode reddit bullchit, this is what OP actually was talking about:

wakes up in slum apartment with a hangover
runs past the family of rats to get a glass of water
realizes he's in agonizing pain from the constant sting of bed bugs, wipes them off feverishly to get his blood flowing
runs back to bed, tries to fall asleep again, contemplates his failure as a man for 20 minutes, considers that meditating
takes a cold shower, because he can't pay his bills
hits the streets by 7 am to panhandle in hopes of securing some twinkies to go with his meth

I've been doing a "5-min journal". I enjoy doing it when I wake up and before bed. I don't plan to do this forever, but I am building a habit of gratitide, affirmations, and visualizations.

Also, how do people not shower at night? I do muay thai and lift 4-6 days a week, so I'd never consider showering in the morning, what a waste of time.

My issue with cold showers is this: I live in a hot climate. When I take a cold shower, my body temperature rises a lot I feel. Because of that it feels like I am burning up and then I have to put on business casual and that feels absolutely disgusting. Then you go outside and it's humid and you still feel hot? Fuk that chit mane...

Then I choose to either rise early at 5 am or get some more rest until 6, 7, or even 8 sometimes. The key is knowing yourself, your body, and what you need. Be fluid like your gender (ayy).

Sleeping is not meditating. Sleeping is sleeping. Meditating is being fully awake but practice of not allowing your mind to wander. The most simple concept but difficult to do.
In the book Siddhartha, he says he has nothing but the ability to, "think, wait, and fast". Interesting stuff. I've never been a huge fan of meditating but maybe I've been approaching it incorrectly. I think a lot to myself, but maybe I could redirect that into something more meditative.

4:10-4:40 - pack lunch, chit, change for gym, slam preworkout

I have a somewhat similar routine, just not as ****gy. I do it for the purpose of structure and being productive and to not get overwhelmed by stress, depression, sadness. And none these morning routine/rituals are original ideas. I get it from following the advice of dudes like Tim Ferris, Jordan Peterson, Joe Rogan, etc...

What I do is in the morning is:

-wake up around 5am, make my bed
-Have my breakfast (veggie/fruit shake, coffee)
-Do some journaling - just write down what I need to accomplish that day, followed by my thoughts on what is bothering me to get that chit out of my head (involves a lot of cursing)
-Take a massive, toilet-clogging chit
-Head to the gym and workout
-Go to work

Night time routine/ritual is:
-Go outside and run for 30 min
-Eat a banana
-Drink apple cider vinegar + raw honey, which apparently knocks you out
-Write in journal again - end of day, what i accomplished, didn't get around to, some more cursing if needed
