To be pedantic - to my understanding Bin Laden was obv. Saudi but was a renegade/independent to some extent. Al Q were based in/operating out of Afghanistan and Pakistan so it may have made some sense to invade Afghanistan (though obviously most of the population are not Al Q).
As to why Pakistan never got any heat .. nuclear capability, no desirable resources?

Honestly, "karma" for colonialism and western foreign policy is NOT the underlying cause of terrorism. It's about religion. The Philippines did not bomb any of these middle eastern countries, yet ISIS have been beheading people over there recently.
