"The Williams sisters once claimed they could beat any male player outside the top 200. They then played against Karsten Braasch (ranked 203), a guy at the end of his underachieving career. He beat them 6-1 (Serena) and 6-2 (Venus). Admittedly, they were at the beginning of their careers but these results are still quite a statement. They then announced they would surely beat a guy outside the top 300 to which Braasch respodended they should just wait a couple of months for a re-match - until then he'll have lost enough points."

The only sports, and I'm taking a wild guess here, that women are on par and maybe even better than men are perhaps riding or curling.

I once watched womens basketball (I think it was the Euro cup or something) and it was the most terrible thing ever. Shots missed from underneath the basket, lay-ups that wouldn't go in, terrible defence. I think they shot like 36% FG. It was awful.

I have seen some nice hockey games in the past by women though.

Good for him.

I swear I just heard on the radio she recently said something similar about herself anyway.

I don't really want it to happen, but I would LOL if some 200+ ranked tennis pro goes transgender and can then compete as a female and demolishes all of them.

She wouldnt last a 5 set match, shes been training and playing her ENTIRE life for 3 set matches. So yeah, no matter what, long game, she would be out. Id give her top 100 in mens easy though

Thats retarded to say the top female player in tennis wouldnt be in the top 700. Shes got as much power as many male players and is bigger then quite a few of them.

I'm a former tennis pro and have traveled playing in futures tournaments. Basically this means you've never heard of me but I can really play. I think saying she'd be 700 is pretty damn generous. She'd have a very difficult time against d1 college players.

I've hit with Andy Roddick (among others) and the spin on his ball just warming up is impressively heavy. I've never hit with a female player that caused me any kind of problems. She doesn't have the power, foot speed, or sprinting speed to compete with the men.

Also....such a bull**** interview when he originally said that. The woman interviewing him totally used the phrase "best female player of all time" first and then called him out when he used the term later in the interview.

Lmao! Kyrgios has beaten Nadal, Federer AND Djokovic. In fact, he beat Djokovic twice this year. Guy's a top 20 player.

Serena wouldn't stand a chance. And he would probably troll her to death while playing.

Note that the reporter provoked John into telling the truth, and then got outraged at him for actually telling the truth.

McEnroe intended to compliment Serena, and was bullied into revealing reality.
When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

If he was going out if his way to rub it in women's faces how inferior they are that would be one thing, but he simply answered questions with honest obvious answers.

Dude no. Her big serves and shots would instantly be slower if you made her use the balls that the men play with. Every single person in the top 100 on the men's side would double bagel her. There is also wayyyyyyy more to tennis than just power.

How much tennis have you actually watched?

EDIT: Denis Shapavalov won the Wimbledon juniors title last year at age 17 (and is currently ranked #164 in his first year on the pro tour) and he would DESTROY Serena. It's a different game.

Complete bush league from the So called "journalist."

Thing is, he still didn't even diss Serena. She knows what he said is true and has said so herself in the past. In 2017, she can't say it anymore.

Why is that? Are her sponsors going to drop her if she admits the truth? Is the WTA going to ban her? What repercussions would she actually face?

Funny thing is that I'm not even convinced that she's the best WOMAN tennis player ever. I still think Graf faced tougher competition and had more impressive accomplishments (winning the Golden Slam).

I just think she wouldn't because it's sounds like she's trying to do the whole feminist thing. I also think she wouldn't want to piss off the thousands of white knight fans that came to her rescue on twitter. You know, the YAS QUEEN types that post a bunch of Beyoncé memes.

Why would she feel bad? That's like saying to Mr. O that he wouldn't qualify for the Miss America. This type of comparison is ludicrous, and no amount of political correctness is going to change that.

I think that the term "feminist" has been warped to the point where people aren't even sure what that is anymore. If Serena really WAS a feminist she'd be pushing for 5-set women's matches in slams to be on the same terms as the men.

Feminism in 2017 is more about crying and being offended than it is about actually promoting equality.

Huh? Feel bad? I agree that comparing the two is stupid. It's mostly a commentator/fan thing. The actual players know the reality of it.

They need to add a wilks type system to other sports to make women feel like they are the best. Like when everyone was saying Ronda Rousey was the best MMA fighter in the world.

She already played #203 and he kicked her and her sister's asses without trying and while buzzed, without warming up, and coming back from ripping cigs and playing golf beforehand.

And how TF is this almost on page 8?
