Gonna go on a limb here, but I think throwing someone from the stairs, which can be deadly a lot of times, weighs higher on the moral compass than a person that overstayed his stay. Still wouldn't legally give him the right to do so anyway. This is why police exists.

"This isn't Africa" He could've ment that they are in The Netherlands now, where it isn't exactly the norm for random people to be staying in your own house for very long (maybe it is in Africa? I don't know). Meaning, they are pretty isolated and if someone sais they gonna leave at 11 am, they expect you to do that.

What really happened: The guests didn't check out on the time they had agreed, making the hosts wait 2 hours, which led to frustration on their end. When the guests came, instead of reacting cool on their apology and comment that they would leave in 15 min after they had taken their bags, the hosts (probably the woman) reacted emotionally and made a fuss about it. She then insisted that her husband delt with it, making him act emotionally aswell. Things got out of hand, the guests attempt to get the person to act rational ("why are you acting so emotional") isn't working, the guy is trying to get her out of his house being emotional, doesn't think and next thing you know you've got a woman lying below your stairs, possibly dead. End of story.
