Cannot logically think of how to cliff this - so I'll just write it out.

My best friend started dating this girl like 3 or 4 years ago. The girl was one of my friends I went to high school with roughly 9 years ago.

They break up around a year ago - and he starts banging his ex-ex-gf frequently. and then starts rekinding things with the most recent ex-gf.

He had been sleeping with these two girls frequently over the last year and lying to both of them saying that he's not seeing anyone else. So he's effectively leading both girls on as both of them still have very strong feelings for my best friend.

I have witnessed countless fights between all of them in the last year, and, countless times he's lied about all of it.

So now it gets good - yesterday, one of the girls comes over to my house. She is visibly in distress (crying etc). She is asking me if I knew where my best friend was, I told her that I didn't (mind you I knew he was out bowling with the other girl). And she then asked me if my best friend had been hanging out with the other girl, I said "yes, he does". and then she asked if the other girl ever stays over, and I told her that yes she had in fact.

This girl is a friend of mine, and I'm not going to lie. I care about her not getting lead on just as much as anyone else.

Did I goof? My best friend already asked me about all this and I didn't hide anything from him. He was pissed, but I think it's a disgusting thing he's doing by lying to both of them.

what would you have done?

It depends if you told your friend beforehand that you think it's fukked up, since you were also friends with the girl. And told him if questioned by her you would tell the truth. If that was not made clear than I would never rat out a friend. I'd just play dumb and immediately tell him about what the girl asked me.

Essentially this was my thought process. This chick came into my home, asked me a straight up question, and I didn't want to lie. I didn't go into any details, just one word answers and then I had her out the door.

edit: misc I could care less if none of y'all wanted to be my friend. Doubt we'd make good friends anyways if you're the ones leading multiple chicks on.
