Because you cool the shell before peeling it so it comes off easy. Boil eggs 10 min, dump water out, fill with cool water and a little ice if necessary, wait a couple min, peel with little effort.

Ok, now what about a soft boiled egg? Since that's what egg cups are for

I'm 33 and have never eaten or seen anyone eat a soft boiled egg. We make eggs over medium. Some people poach eggs.

I do it all the time when I put between two buttered toasts. Sort of like a poor man's poached eggs.
notsureifsrs. I am able to peel soft boiled eggs without any issues. Solid white on the outside, runny yolk on the inside

Yeah I was thinking from reading this thread and so many people not seeming to know what a soft boiled egg is that that's probably the reason they don't have cups. I also don't eat soft boiled eggs so don't have cups.

Though the people acting like a cup is some kind of crazy thing like a bacon sheath are baffling though lol. For those that do ready soft boiled eggs cups are pretty practical.

You're boiling your eggs too long to call them soft boiled, son. They shouldn't be solid on the outside.

Poached eggs are different. There shouldn't be a shell to peel if you're poaching your eggs

Notice how the first egg had a runny yolk exactly like the ones you UKers put in a cup and they're able to peel it without any problems. Notice how it's not rolling all over the cutting board. Put that on top of a toast, pop yolk, eat.

brb don't have to peel an egg as I eat it

None of that was my point. My point was you're calling it a poached eggs and saying you peel poached eggs. Poached eggs don't have a shell so you can't peel them.

I'm not really fully informed about the UK-US thing, but did the Queen forbid the Muricans to have soft boiled eggs when you lot exiled them?

Honestly breakfast in the US is a disaster area.

No soft boiled eggs with soldiers. No cup of tea. No ironed newspaper. Don't think they even know what marmalade is (never seen any over there)

Barely advanced from the primordial soup over there. Bet they regret us deciding to leave two centuries ago.
