A average cross fit chick around here at my gym has a tight as hell body and is just very lean. Like any sport once you get to the level with $$ involved that's where the roids come into play.
It might get made fun of a lot by the bodybuilding crowd but some of these crossfit workouts the pros do are insane and would kill me & they have very good bodies IMO.
I do a few cross fit cycles to mix it up and burn some extra calories.

As for the physiques, all that's happened is that we're used to seeing drug-using males, so much so that we actually think Christian Bale went from 100lbs in the Machinist to 220lbs in Batman 18 months later using nothing but hard work, tilapia and whey. We've seen drugged male physiques since the 1960s, we're used to it. But we're not used to seeing drugged women's physiques.
We'll get used to it.

CrossFit bruh here
Brooke Hence was all juuiced up on was actually doing some of that muscle worship video stuff before starting with CrossFit yes
Not all the girls look like that
The problem with CrossFit was that the blooming of this phenomenon happened so quickly that nonathletic and average individuals resourced to this method of training which encourage group exercise (since most of them are not confident enough to step inside a conventional gym since they think they will be judge on their level or lack-off therefore of fitness)
So they had to quickly supply gyms with "certified" coaches which a lot of the time weren't capable to assess on individuals and thats when the problems begin
You have people who have never trained with barbells and you have them do all kinds of Olympic Weightlifting movements in weird variations causing them to get injured, get recorded, posted online and made fun off by a bunch of miscers

Olympic athletes have to keep it plausibly deniable, because if anyone comes in looking like some of these men and women in Crossfit, they're going to be the target of "random" testing.
As well, most drug-using top athletes are doing it under medical supervision. Mostly it's state-sanctioned, and the state doesn't want to kill their top athletes; they don't necessarily care if the athlete dies at 40 rather than 70, but they at least want them to stay alive till 35 or so and have a full athletic career. But when the person does it of their own initiative, they tend not to think or even be aware of the long-term health risks. Which is why you get these kinds of physiques in IFBB and Crossfit.
So these two factors will mean that Olympic athletes have less dosage and less obvious drug use (except in sports where they're obviously immune from criticism, like Tour De France was for a long time, and 100m sprint is now), and the amateurs in some sports more obvious.

It's just not possible, it'd be like expecting Rwanda to have a great medical system in the same time. The problem with CrossFit was that the blooming of this phenomenon happened so quickly [...] they had to quickly supply gyms with "certified" coaches which a lot of the time weren't capable to assess on individuals and thats when the problems begin
The poor coaching also ties into the drug use. If you don't know how to coach someone properly, you can just give them drugs and they'll get better anyway.
Now, all this is not as awful as it sounds. Bob Takano commented that the old coaches would say that these new coaches are no good. "And they're right," he said, "but what these old coaches forget is that they weren't very good in their first 2-3 years, either." In 10 years at most 50 of those 579 current places will still be in business, 25 of them will still be crap, but 25 will be pretty good. And in the meantime, the vast majority of people going to a Crossfit, like any other gym, are not going to bother with drugs. And rightly so, it's stupid.

My old gym had a crazy crossfit girl, not the huge kind but the crazy-ripped kind. She always had an angry look in her face, one guy I knew was good friends with her and said she had fuked a bunch of different guys in the gym and 'none of them could keep up with her sex drive'. I could just imagine her wanting to be choked/slapped around but no one being 'man enough'.
It'd be fun once for some weird fetish fuk but in general it was more gross than hot.

Its just a fringe sport (if you can call it that) that not many people care about (like bodybuilding) so drugs are just apart of the hustle.
Most of these women wont be able to have kids and will develop cholesterol, blood pressure, liver and heart issues and a considerable percentage will die younger than they should.
The most hilarious part is what a lot of these "athletes" do on the side for the drugs and to supplement (monetarily) their lives while they train.... two women my best buddy trains are escorts on the side (fetish mostly) and will also turn tricks at every show they attend. There is an entire sketchy sexual sub-culture to this sport that is cringeworthy and sad.
And all of it for a 60K sponsorship from a supplement company? LOL

As I said, we are used to seeing drug-enhanced male physiques, so much so that many people will seriously believe that Bolt's physique and performance can be attained naturally. We're not used to seeing drug-enhanced women's physiques, so many of us recoil from them. People look back on the days of Arnie and Franco, "the Golden Age of bodybuilding", and say, "but they didn't use drugs... well okay but not much, not like these freaks today." If it's still going 40 years from now, people will call The Golden Age of Crossfit, and say, "but so-and-so didn't use drugs... well okay but not much, not like these freaks today."
Standards change. And organisations ensure that their favourite stars don't get busted.

I always mire sprinters. They have the goat physique. Of course everyone is taking supplements at the olympic level. Should watch some of Dick Pound's interviews (former head of IOC) on the topic.
Also lmao at golden age of crossfit...it is only a fad. Would not be surprised if this thing tanks within the next 10 years. I remember a few years back there used to be a crossfit gym opening up everywhere. Now half those gyms are closed down and no new ones are opening up.

I remember a few years back there used to be a crossfit gym opening up everywhere. Now half those gyms are closed down and no new ones are opening up.
I have a very small gym business, and in future years plan to have a larger one, and I stay in touch with other gym owners and managers, so I know a bit about the market as a whole.I'm not sure where you are, but the US has 7,050 Crossfit affiliates.https://map.crossfit.com. I don't know what they had a few years ago. But for comparison, two years ago Australia had 579, now we have 580. Two years ago the UK had 527, now they have 531. Much the same for most of Western Europe, Canada and NZ. So I'm willing to believe we're at a peak.
In Australia we had a company called IronEdge, it supplied at least half the Crossfit gyms and many of the big gyms that wanted a little section of racks and bumpers so they could run their poor clones of Crossfit. They expanded too fast and went bust a couple of years back. Basically what happened was that all the failed Crossfits closing become the main source of gear for the new ones. If even 10% of Crossfits close each year then that's one a week in Australia, so if you can pay for the shipping there'll always be gear available.
IronEdge has resurfaced but at a much humbler level than before, no more huge warehouse, no more seminars, no more $50,000 fitouts, etc.
I dunno about the USA, but in Australia 10-20 years ago every yuppie and his dog was opening a cafe. "I'll just sit and drink wine with my customers, it'll be awesome." It turned out, of course, not to be so simple: you actually have to know what you're doing, and it's hard work. Gyms are a lot like that now, lots of people think, "wow, I can be paid to get fit!" Not exactly. And with just a weekend certificate to do, not much to spend on gear and cheap rentals in light industrial areas, it's a low barrier to entry compared to many other small business possibilities.
Remember also that Crossfit has no real restrictions as part of its franchise agreement. If you franchise a KFC, they won't franchise another one across the road from you. Crossfit doesn't do that. So what you'll find is that one place opens, another opens near it and undercuts it or just has a better community or changerooms or whatever, eventually one of the two closes. Some places get over-served with a dozen in short driving distance, others are under-served. Some places close, others open. The free market provides a brutal version of the guidance Crossfit HQ won't.
This is probably what's happening near you. There were too many for the local market. As well, it'll be connected with the overall decline of the US economy. Gym membership's a luxury, people cut it when money is tight, or even if they think it might be tight in a year or two. But we can't just look at the market as a local thing, we have to look at nations and worldwide.
Looking at the numbers over the last couple of years, I do think we're at a peak of Crossfit. I'm sure it can grow here and there, for example India with 34 Crossfits in a country of 1,300 million people, at least 300 million of whom are middle-class with money to burn, seems like there could be growth there if Crossfit can set aside its whitebread nature and image. But the Western world is probably done and will drop off a bit, I'd be surprised if it disappeared entirely in 10 years, though.
For comparison, the big box gym part of the industry hasn't grown since 2007. But it hasn't tanked, either. The growth has been from, in order: first 24hr unstaffed gyms second, women's gyms and a distant third, training gyms like Crossfit.
24hr unstaffed gyms will continue to do well, because the lazy cheaparsed 1/6 of the gym population needs somewhere to not go to. And training gyms will continue to do well, because the 1/6 of the gym people who get tired of spinning their wheels going nowhere in a cycle class, or curling in front of the mirror for ten years and still not having bigger biceps, they need somewhere to go, too. The big box gyms remain for the other 2/3.
As Rippetoe said, our argument with Crossfit is a family argument. For all their faults, they use barbells and recognise thateffort is required for results. It's easy to forget just how radical these ideas are for the fitness industry as a whole. It's a long way from Jazzercise and the Absercizer 3000.

Steroids in organized sports?! Blasphemy!
Most of these girls are juiced, even if in low doses. That being said, wouldpoundmostoftheirangusesandflexinthemirrorlike PatrickBateman/10.

I have a very small gym business, and in future years plan to have a larger one, and I stay in touch with other gym owners and managers, so I know a bit about the market as a whole.

I do think the fad has died down and is on the decline. Can't comment for europe or aus, it might be completely different there.

Again, don't confuse local with general trends. The shopping strip near my home used to have a McDs Express, it closed and was replaced with a Chinese restaurant. Does this mean McDs is declining and going to die out? No, it's just that I live near Monash University, and this area has a lot of people of Chinese and Indian origin. They'llworkin a McDs, but they won'teatin a McDs. McDs in Australia is a whitebread thing, so if you want to open a franchise, you choose your location accordingly.
Likewise, Crossfit - it's whitebread and middle class, you open one in a working class suburb, or a place with a lot of migrants, it'll die.
So I think if you looked at the demographics of your area and the general trend of the economy (or people's perception of the trend) you'd find those factors key. At least some of the people from those 3 closed places will have gone to the 2 places still open. And your area lost 3, some other place will have gained 3.
Crossfit's biggest danger is itself. Firstly, at some point the injury issues will have to be addressed, more lawsuits will succeed, and the damage to its reputation will be significant. Either they ignore the issue and people stop participating because they're worried about hurting themselves, or they deal with the issue and they lose the hardcore people who don't care about injuries.
Secondly, the Crossfit Games. Like IFBB, it makes things unattainable for the typical person who has no talent and won't take drugs. This doesn't mean people will stop watching - people watch basketball even though they have no hope of growing seven foot tall - but it won't help participation at grassroots level.
Every sport faces this, grassroots vs professionalisation. And professionalisation is where the money is, so that's what organisations go for. Here in Australia, for example, in my state there are now far fewer novice powerlifting meets - but there'll be a powerlifting competition with tens of thousands of dollars in prizes. They could focus on the hundreds of 100kg guys squatting 200kg, or the one 140kg guy squatting 380kg. The big guy is where the money is, the smaller guys is where the participation is.
As Crossfit peaks, it's natural for HQ to look to the Games. With affiliates paying $3k a year, once the number of affiliates peak, so does HQ's income. But if they have Games and endorsements and advertising and merchandising and all that, the income can keep going up. This will be at the expense of grassroots participation, however. Good for HQ, bad for the affiliates.
So I think with the focus on the Crossfit Games, combined with growing injury concerns, we'll see the number of Crossfit affiliates drop a bit in coming years. But it won't tank.

Now obviously supplements help, and being trainer properly helps even more, but it won't get anyone results like this, for which they need a combination of talent and drugs.
It's the amount and kind of drug supplementation.
