It's not fake
Louis Curran, a public defender for nearly three decades, told The News that he noticed the irregularities in the video while going over it and other officers' cameras ahead of a trial date on Friday.

Police dash cameras are constantly recording, but only save 30 seconds at a time until an officer hits record. The resulting recording includes the last half-minute of video that it saved, along with video and audio of everything afterward.

Curran speculates that Pinheiro was waiting to turn his device on for his "discovery," but miscounted and captured his alleged planting at the very beginning of his clip.

"I guess that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer," he said.

I swear, the common individual is a complete fuking moron. I'm "pro" this or that. What the fuk does that even mean?

"I harbour biases toward a particular individual/group/people". That's essentially what anyone is saying when they are "pro" whichever group. It removes support from principle and places it onto persons, which is a fuking disaster in the making regarding slippery slopes.

This is the case for any fuking moron who is "pro" <insert group/persons/people>. People aren't the principles and ideas they claim to support or enforce, and there are far too many people with this idiotic train of thought. This even comes down to idiotic nationalism. The founding fathers supported principles that are tried and tested, and will face up to nearly any and all situations you can imagine, from 1776 to 2017, idiots today support people, and consequently their actions. Not actions begotten from principles.

People are stupid, regardless of which side of the fence they are on.

Well considering that these incidents only account for around .00001% of the 2M or so police officers working in the US that go thru everyday without incidents. What would you propose?

Worst is when the police work with prosecutors to force false confessions/frame people, it's beyond pathetic.

There was a man whose name escapes me, but police basically forced him to confess into killing his toddler - but a lawyer took his case and proved it couldn't have been him, they released him after spending nearly a year in prison and destroying his rep. He then sued the taxpayers for $15 million, and the real killer of his toddler confessed years later. Sickening that this is business as usual

Got negged by BOZZ for this comment. I'll explain. a person in a position of power, who works for the people should be held to a much higher standard than a regular civilian. As such, they should have to suffer much harsher consequences when they abuse those powers.

Maybe people have misunderstood me, I'm not saying lynch the guy. I'm saying, put him on trial, find him guilty, there is video evidence after all, and then give him the needle. Maybe this will scare other corrupt cops and politicians into either quitting, or if they don't, hopefully they are caught and suffer the same fate.

The reality here is, this cop had no remorse in what he'd done, he didn't think about destroying someone else's life, he's clearly unfit to be a law enforcement officer. If he's not worried about destroying another person's life, then we shouldn't be worried about him being legally executed for being corrupt.

If I had it my way, corruption would be tried as treason against the US.

Now, this is speculation, but the above can be an indicator that this particular criminal activity is not new to the officer.

He could have gotten comfortable getting away with it and slipped up. That is how most criminals get caught.

It wouldn't be any different because the criminal is operating under the guise of an officer charged with enforcing the law.

This is the type of thing that destroys the moral authority to enforce laws.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Quit jumping to conclusions *******s.

"Davis and Deputy Police Commissioner Jason Johnson suggested that it implied that they were re-enacting the recovery of drugs for the body camera — which is also inappropriate, Davis said."

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/...-drugs-n784561

They could have just reenacted it for the cameras, even though that's not how it's supposed to be it's much less of a problem.

since the vast VAST majority are going to look legit (because who takes a criminals word over a cop?) there is absolutely no way to know these numbers except they're insanely higher than that - simply based off the amount of people who have been let off death row due to dna evidence we know a huge percent of people who are locked up are innocent, but it doesn't matter since the unions, courts, prisons etc are all making money hand over fist, so false convictions will keep happening as our country eats itself from the inside out

I didn't know body cams had that capacity either which is why I questioned it. However it seems recording with a lower resolution and external battery pack, the cameras can record all day. That explains the 30 seconds of pre-activation footage. I stand corrected.

The Drug War has put way too many behind bars for bull****. The fact we waste money on this sh!t is a disgrace, but then it also allows cops like this to easily frame people.

I like how the the quoted text attempts to the conflate the two different acts as both being merely inappropriate.

Planting evidence isn't inappropriate. It is criminal.

Obfuscation at it's best. Very subtle but effective way of changing the narrative.

True story here. I had a teacher for a criminal justice class in college who did this. He was a supervisor and was trying to make detective or something promotion. Year after my class ended I saw he was fired and later found out he planted drugs on some guy in order to try and get a promotion. The suspect demanded they finger print the bag and only set of prints was the cops(lol). Cop finally confessed. He got probation and fired. Seemed like a good guy too. Fauk.

You'd have to come up with a pretty elaborate plan to frame a decently intelligent law abiding person for a crime these days and since that's not happening too often, the vast majority of false convictions are clearly dumbasses and degenerates with priors. Not really a big deal since they aren't really worth anything to society anyway and would have more than likely gotten nabbed later on for a crime they actually did commit. Even within the topic of police corruption, set-ups aren't that important.

If you grew up in the city you really don't have to wonder. Dirty cops are everywhere, and can fuk up your life. Most aren't like that though, but cop framing has been a subject that's needed attention for decades.

Think of how bad it was before cell phones, my dad said told me a story about back in maybe late 70's early 80's:

Him and my godfather are boyos since forever, get yucky at bar, for whatever reason get arrested, maybe disorderly conduct.

They're in the back of the car and my godfather kept talking **** so cop drags him out the car while cuffed and beats the **** out of him.

Hell I still remember my dad and I were held at gunpoint by police officers coming home from Mendards back in the mid 90's, cause they said we matched the description of suspects wanted for vehicular theft.

LOL I really wish that could've happened nowadays though cause my ass would played up the emotional duress angle and I'd be eating good.

Imma go out on a limb here and say the "arrestee" probably wasnt some good old boy just grinding out a paycheck. Probably was a career criminal would be my guess. Kind of an ends justifies the means situation. But like i said "finding" drugs in an alley wont mean jack in court and the dude would only do a few months anyway. Foolish

You never heard of rampart? That's exactly what happened. Who knows just how many of these rogue departments are operating right now. None of it will come to light unless a whistleblower comes out with a mountain of evidence collected over years aka not going to happen again.

Even a few years back a former cop ratted on his lapd croonies and they burnt him alive in a cabin on national tv. Not to mention they shoot at random civilians on the streets because they thought it was the whistleblower.
