we accept them, but acceptance is different from enabling and encouraging them to be that way. we typically try to help them so they don't stay that way forever, right?

Only when there is evidence showing that it is the construct of transgenderism, notthe social treatment/rejection or some other attached distress (e.g., accompanying MDD), then you cannot declare transgenderism as being disordered in itself. It is, by itself, not sufficient.

Have you read any of my posts? This would literally be the third time I've addressed this exact thing. If, for example, there is a biological occurrence where aromatase does not convert estrogen to testosterone in utero, which istypicallywhat happens with the XY chromo****l pattern, then the CNS (i.e., brain) can develop in a way where hormonal regulation mimics that of a woman rather than a man.

Per CNS development, we all start out female; that is the default. If the masculinizing hormones don't take root to deter developmentawayfrom female andtowardsmale, then you could have XY chromosomes coupled with a "female" brain. Hormonally speaking.
What you're saying about societal treatment of transgender people doesn't add up. If their distress is caused by how society might perceive them and treat them, then they'd quantitatively have less distress by simply identifying as their biological sex. To alter themselves in any way outside the norm would directly cause distress. But something drives them to want to transition. That drive itself could be considered "distress," or at minimum should be observed and factored into what you're saying about transgender people and distress.

In a sense, I liken it to body dysphoria. In this case, it would be more like "gender dysphoria."

And people with depression would have less distress if they'd just stop being depressed all the time. Kind of a pointless point to make.

maybe all these trans dudes are the smart ones... they're the men that are evolving and adapting in order to survive in this cuck filled and SJW infested world... they realize that masculinity is frowned upon in today's society and that we live in a world now that chits on men and serves you up life on easy mode when you're a woman

they really just undercover brothas out here trying to get them a piece

it's really like they've evolved beyond women... further proving how superior the male race is... all the benefits of being a woman with the bonus of being able to claim discrimination if you don't accept them... bonus points the hotter you look as the opposite sex too... it's like these people can't lose

genius really

what a time to be alive

I think you might've missed the point. People who are depressed are distressed directly because of their depression. I was questioning the notion that transgender people experience distress mostly or only from external sources, when I think it's more complicated than that. They likely also experience distress due to issues directly related to transgenderism itself, excluding societal factors.

I didn't miss the point at all; it was a weird suggestion.

Some/many/most might experience distress because of the condition itself. That still doesn't mean transgenderism isinherentlya disorder. You might call it "necessarybut insufficient" for gender dysphoria.

I was directly confronting one of your notions. Not sure why you'd perceive that as weird. But if a condition is causing someone distress because of the condition itself then that is a textbook disorder, range of severity aside. Transgenderism also used to be in the DSM until relatively recently, which means that it was recognized as a mental disorder.

On Saturday, the American Psychiatric Association’s board of trustees approved changes to the latest version of The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) that will remove the term β€œGender Identity Disorder” (GID) which has historically been used by mental health professionals to diagnose transgender individuals.

I dont give a fk what other adults do, but letting children and teenagers make such a permanent and drastic decision is ridiculous. Pretty sure the prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain involved in logical decision making) isnt fully developed until 23-24.

Teens cant drink or smoke yet they can change their fken gender and obliterate their natural endocrine system.

The end.
this was your first post

so in your mind, there can be 2 different causes for a person to be transgendered? the first being from "natural" mechanisms and the other being from gender dysphoria which is a mental disorder, right?

so my question was, how can we even tell the difference between them, without actually seeing which of their genes activated and hormones reacted in utero (which is impossible from my understanding)???

This doesn't even touch the causes of being transgendered.

Being gay or transexual doesn't hurt anyone. If you became gay, or had your penis cut off. Would you be hurting anyone? How would you feel If I told you you can't misc anymore or buy protein since it's against my bible and my god? you would be pretty angry now wouldn't you. Why can't I get protein it don't hurt anyone I want to get more muscle... well guess what I have 1 million followers and if you buy protein, we think you will go to hell, and we will beat you and make sure you have no rights if you try to get protein.

Just simple logic. Just apply it to yourself to become a non bigot. If you became gay or transexual would that hurt anyone? Nobody every thinks this way cause they lack empathy and are very ignorant. They say it will make god angry which has nothing to do with themselves or anyone else. Completely ignoring empathy and using there brain.

Images of god and jesus are in human forms because human ego can't allow a picture of them to look like something else. The men who created the religion wanted to be god and made god figures in his own image. He wanted to have power over people, religion is one of the most powerful forms of power because it brainwashes people to become ignorant and not think logically. The parents teach the kids, never think about it or question.

Each country does this brainwashing, if a kid is taught a specific religion oh that religion is bad, oh no your religion is bad. Wait second why is the kid bad he had no choice to learn this because adults forced him to? they threatened to whip him or no food, punishment if he don't go to church or learn this religion. So your telling me he is bad? I've asked this several religious people and they can't explain it. They want to say everyone else is evil and they are not the real god. But when I bring this up the fumble. why would the kid be bad when he is forced to learn a specific religion. Every religion is taught from child and up, so every kid grows up thinking his god is the real one, causing wars and chaos, violence and pure ignorance.

It's just pure ignorance, I was forced to go to church, and when I grew up I saw the fraud of the church. Pastor using credit card for non tax purchases, church money used to pay bills and then used to buy trips and vacations. I've also come to logical solutions every country has there own god and say everyone else's god is fake. This proves that religion is fake if it was real everyone would be unified and god would make sure they serve only him. Either religion is fake or you need to accept that there is more than one god. period.
I just want to share the knowledge I have obtained throughout my life and hopefully change someone's life.

The issue is that there is a major gray lining with their rights. Liberals are now saying there are more than 2 genders, that transwomen should be allowed in female bathrooms, that they should be allowed to compete in women's sports even though they clearly have genetic advantage, etc. It has really gone too far.

And the parents that are trying to make their children transgender at such an early age should absolutely be illegal. That is a decision that person can make at 18, nothing earlier.

With that said, I don't 'hate' trans people. I think it's kinda weird, but who gives a fuk right? Do whatever makes you happy as long as it doesn't hurt other people.

So have lots of things.
Severity is more of a spectrum that's used to measure a condition, but that doesn't mean a lesser severity of something itself excludes it from being categorized as a disorder. And I used the article as evidence to support the notion that transgenderism can and has been categorized as a disorder, more specifically a mental disorder. However, the fact it was removed from the DSM-V and is described as a endocrine disorder instead only further asserts the notion that it can be categorized as a disorder.

And the reason for its removal could potentially have been "political" in nature as well, given that a part of society began to push for transgender acceptance around that period of time.

Dunno. But the science of transgenderism appears to have been diverted away from the field of psychology in favor of taking it down the path of endocrinology:

http://www.yourhormones.info/endocri...tity-disorder/

But I've also read that both mental illnesses and transgenderism are neurobiological in nature. Which would account for why it was previously in the DSM-V.

Be whatever you want to be. Where the line gets crossed is when you decide that other's can't believe what they want to, or think other's don't have the same choices you have when it comes to acceptance. When you decide for others, what to accept. Wanting a different set of rules for yourself.

You can have XY chromosomes, yet also fail to have aromatase convert estrogen to testosterone, leaving you withcertainsexual processes to proceed as male whileothersproceed as female. Talk to any neuroendocrinologist, this isnothingnew.
So trannies are biological males with theexacthormonal regulations of a female and this is "nothing new" according to you. Where's the solid proof these biological males haveidenticalhormonal regulations to women? And to clarify, do these biological males haveidenticallevels of estrogen, progestorone and low levels of testosterone as seen in females?

It's way too premature to declare mental disorders as being "neurobiological in nature." That biological correlates exist does not mean the disorder can be reduced to neurobiology alone or at its core.

Regarding your link: you understand that they are not treating the individuals as disordered? But rather the fact that they have the "wrong body" as disordered? Hence why the treatment involves hormones and sex reassignment. That said, I'd rather take this sort of information from the AMA than this group.
All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.
