Attempting dropset for Flat DB Bench after 3 heavy working sets of flat and 3 sets of moderate weight incline DB bench and not being able to do 1 rep of 40lbs.

Benching heavy weight without spotter.

Handles for pushdowns making contact with my dink.

Wide grip lat pulldown.

Wide grip cable row.

Going parallel / below parallel on squats.

IDK if I could remember doing anything I thought was particularly cringeworthy.

I did used to read stuff like Muscle and Fitness, Muscle Mag, Flex(HNNNG at swimsuit edition, Trish Stratus anyone?), etc quite religiously and had that EAS 'Bigger, Stronger, Faster' book, believed all that **** like I could get physiques like those guys off just protein, creatine and BCAA's.

I still remember when I first came here was around the time when everybody became disillusioned by the Cell-Tech ads, by that point I'd been "in it" so long I was well past believing in those advertisements.

When I started lifting I would take 2 of the big 10lbs plates ( the ones for deads and squats) put them on a little dumbbell and curl with one arm ( trying to make look like I curled f*ckn 45s on each side lol)

Would take off my shirt and scream really loud when squatting ( I had a 8 pack but was all bones and no chest)

Would have little teenage girl spot me on the bench

Would run as fast as I could to car after my last set of my workout to take my Creatine/protein because of that "window" period (I literally would drop the weight of the last set and just sprint though the gym)

Love those shirts now tbh , actually fit around the shoulders .

-Started lifting at like 14-15 , did it for like 2 months then stopped , could have been in shape for the good years of HS and early uni ,

-Did the same at 19 , so many gains missed out on .

- Didn't train chest for the 1st year

LOL just went through thread and if we're saying these things are cringe then I've done quite a few:

Meal timing

I think at one point I was eating like 300g of carbs a day, just rolling white bread into balls and popping them.

The "roll of shame".

I'm sure I've at least gotten under the bar with way too much weight on once if not several times, luckily I had spotters cause when I say too much weight meaning as soon as I got the bar off the holders it went straight down.

I'm sure there are more things I just can't remember.

I read some Tim Ferris book where he recommended a bulking meal that consisted of: packaged mac and cheese, canned turkey chili, and tuna. You mix it all together, and it doesn't taste so bad. All in the name of gains. I brought it to work in tupperware and microwaved it in the break room. It smelled so rank, and people were probably disgusted by me, looking back on it. Can't believe I did that, multiple times.

Also have ordered double cheeseburgers from the McDonald's menu and not eaten the bun, cause paleo. Real idiot.

Lifting wise: I did starting strength and got a big legs/ass and no upper body gains for like the first two years.

Falling for the SS and 5x5 memes and trying to have the best squat of all the people in the gym till eventually my legs grew out of proportion with the rest of my body and now I am pear shaped having to tailor all my pants focusing purely on upper body to catch up

After HS i thought the best training routine would be the type i did for HS football. Lol.

Brb squat 3x5
Lat pull downs
Db bench
Shrugs

Brb this routine makes no sense
Ironically i saw my old friends littlle brother at the gym who just graduated HS and he was doing the same type of routine.

Amazing how many people think running works legs. I know gym bros that still have this philosophy after years of being in the gym.

-religiously tracking grams of protein BRB only at 120 for the day, better double up a shake before bed

-benching in smith machine-TBH some of the biggest bros ive ever seen do this, but still

-this is the worse one....someone convinced me that doing over 15 reps per set on something would "tone" you. in turn, i convinced my noob 50 year old friend of this theory and after a 10 day straight "arms only" routine he had a horrific bicep tear. feelsbadman

Most of my protein came from protein shakes when I first started lifting. Couldn't figure out why I wasn't growing despite eating 240g of protein weighing 180.

Reading that one guy's interpretation of Rippletits' SS and thinking I couldn't get bigger as a natty without squatting 3 times a week. Started looking at myself in mirror and wondering why my legs were growing and nothing else. It also gave me a longstanding phobia of training arms.

Meal timing. "Body can't process over 30g of protein in a sitting" etc.

Honestly the biggest regret is doing starting strength for a year. What a fkn waste of time. If you are new reading this thread that should be your take away.
