Ive never been to london but for some reason i never liked it .Just seems so grey and bland/gritty. Maybe thats just the way it is on TV and pics.

In on daily UK bashing thread. If you're not a peasant London is near enough the greatest city in world.

There are many things I dislike about it, and I would personally want to live there, but in terms of its history and "things to do" it's the best city in the world.

London is chit if you don't have money and live in immigrant ghetto areas.

For a metropolitan though its a great city if you have money. Full of great restaurants and nice clubs/pubs to go out, lots of internationals and if you're bored there's guaranteed always something going on somewhere

In general though I'm not a fan of metropolitans... but still, London is far far better than NYC

I agree, the London Eye is chit, but the Palace of Westminster is honestly a fantastic building. Well worth going to see. If you're not impressed you are probably a low IQ philistine.

A lot more to London than a "clock tower" and "a ferris wheel" anyway.

I dont think the US puts the UK on a pedestal

But I won't deny that when it comes to the arts, specifically music, even their pop artists like styles, horan, and adele absolutely chit on anything the US has to offer

US fashion sense is leagues better though imo. I feel the US gets underrated in terms of style of dress

Like many cities, your experience will vary based on what you value and what you can afford. There's a big difference between living in a nice, wealthy area vs the ghetto of any city.

So have I, and I honestly cannot understand how you can say that... unless of course you literally just looked at the tourist chit spots or are a philistine. Hampton Court Palace, Buckingham palace, St Paul's Cathedral, The tower of London etc etc are all great places to visit.

Also, lol at anyone who says they have visited London and not seen a West End musical. You've not really visited London, have you mate.

It's not even just about that in London. It's free to appreciate cool architecture and be fascinated by the history of the place. I like London for that reason. Or you can just get off the tourist track and see some of the other chit London has to offer.

No disrespect to the Americans on this forum, I really like Americans, but most of you are incapable of appreciating things like architecture, culture, history, etc, so it doesn't surprise me that a lot of people don't like London.
Although, it is true that it's not the place it was 40 years ago though

I lived there for 3 years. Loved every day of it, but I was making bank.

I prefer living in San Diego now, but I definitely miss London and will go back there one day. The weather does suck though, but when the sun is out it's amazing in the parks. HBB everywhere (not Brits though)
