Nah. Makes towing more of a PITA. Had a lifted 3/4 ton two trucks ago. Not to mention I have a toddler now. getting a kid into and out of a car seat in a lifted truck is more trouble than its worth.

And yeah you definitely wouldn't wanna buy a used vehicle up north. Just like you said after a few years the road salt really starts to wear on it, and most of my friends who moved up north say the quality of used vehicles for sale is sht compared to used down here.

I'm a Ford guy and have a '16 F250..... but that truck it nice looking, I do have to admit that. Mirin that white too, keeping a black truck clean is pointless. I wash mine and then drive it into town and its full of dust instantly.

Are you going to delete the exhaust, or keep it stock? I have mine deleted and it's a whole new truck.

Those pumps output about 20,000 psi. When they go...they go and do about 10,000 worth of damage. The 2017 have the new L5P engine that has a new fuel system and different pump.

Love my truck though.

Nice truck and jeez they are expensive. I just bought my Dad's 2003 Ford F250 7.3L Lariat with 80k miles for $8,000. It is also white.

what an absolute waste of money

excusing that kind of financing by saying you "use it" is so fuking stupid when you could be towing that stuff with a base model gasser with some airbags and putting the saved money back into your business

instead you just have a shiny driveway ornament and something to brag about to strangers on the internet

Always thought the same thing until I drove thru rural USA. Pretty much need a truck. Well, not a need, but most roads are dirt/gravel, some are uphill, so an SUV with some clearance. Plus, rural is farm, and farmers tow crap, so made sense to me finally as to why so many people owned trucks.

People in the city with trucks, that doesnt make sense now

If you tow heavy very often you'll go broke with a base model gasser. OP could get away with it with towing his tractors around but for any sort of longevity with the power train the base model gassers dont have near as durable a tranny as the diesels do either. I run dodges on my ranch (going to switch to Fords at the end of the year) and while I agreee gassers have their place (my daily is a '14 2500 6.4 hemi/auto) they are not made for pulling heavy or pulling often. My '14 6.4 will run up to 80 MPH with 15k hooked on but it does so at 5.5 mpg which puts a ton of strain on the motor and tranny. My '15 3500 CTD/auto will pull the same load at 12 mpg with next to no strain on the motor or tranny. My '15 5500 CTD/auto will pull 25k about as easily my 3500 will pull 15k and was about $15,000 cheaper than OP's ride but it isn't something I would recommend to him. At the end of the day its his money to do with as he pleases and I don't see him buying a 3/4 ton pickup with a diesel motor as the waste of money you seem to.

Lol @ waste of money. Let me guess, you are the type to buy a used vehicle cash. Talk about a waste of money. You shell out $20k in cash for a depreciating asset that is worth $5k 6 years down the line.

I prefer to drive a nice vehicle that holds its value and resale demand better than any other class of vehicle and trade it in every 3 years, each time lowering my payment and amount financed significantly. And never having to pay for a single oil change or other maintenance expense as i'm under warranty and free service plan the entire time.

Keep it stock. It has more HP/torque stock than a friend of mine's tuned/egr deleted 2015 1 ton. Doing a delete voids your warranty and kills trade in value.

I didn't have any issues with it other than the DEF tank heater went wonky and had to be replaced under warranty

i'm not seeing him towing anything remotely heavy on a 16' tandem trailer, it's not like he's dragging a 50' wedge crosscountry year-round, in which case i wouldn't argue a diesel for a second

i'm more interested in why he insists on eating the worst part of the depreciation, financing a new truck every 2 years then tossing it aside just to eat it again on a new one

Fair enough. I did mine with 2000kms on the clock, but I do know i'll regret it if I need anything done under warranty.

20' tandem 10k gvwr. Usually tow between 5k-8k lbs. Could I do it in a gasser? yep. Do I want to? No. Much nicer having the torque of a diesel when towing through the mountains of VT. Not to mention better fuel economy.

$8k in depreciation over 3 years is not bad at all. And as I mentioned previously the rust and corrosion from the salt during winters starts to do a number on your frame and undercarraige after about 3 winters.

I'd love to get a truck as a second vehicle, but Chevy/GM vehicles put a bad taste in my mouth. Not a big fan of the white either, makes me think of a utility/fleet vehicle. If you're happy I'm happy tho.

The pricing on these things are completely outlandish.

The last base model gasser I used for a puller on my ranch ('12 F350 6.2/auto) went through a tranny in just over two years at 80k and I (generally) dont pull much more than 50 miles one way. I'm only speaking from my own experience and experiences vary but the power train of gassers isnt meant for much more than pulling a boat to the lake or something similar. If OP rolled through a tranny before trade in that hurts the pocket book and the trade in.

As far as trade in and depreciation is concerned, a lot of people (myself included) have to trade in every 2 or 3 years to have 1) any trade in value left and 2) before the warranty runs out and things start breaking. I dont care what anybody says, parts on HD pickups are only designed to last just as long as the warranty.

I fell in love with the look of the new Raptor (not the engine though) but instantly fell out of love when they wanted $96,000 (Canadian) for one. No way in hell i'm spending $100k on a V6 pickup truck.
