They switch to local CBS stations as the hurricane (tropical storm now) moves up the state. I've seen 3 or 4 stations get electricity cut off and had the stations flooded, so they had to switch to their national HQ or another local station.

I also noticed FEMA just started operating within the city, I need to add that to my list.I hope you have an axe. You might end up on your roof waiting for rescue. They say not to stay in the attic, but actually break through your roof and wait on top of it if the water gets high enough. If you end up calling 911, just wait in the queue and you'll eventually get through to someone.

I was listening to NPR earlier and 911 is so overloaded that people are reaching out on twitter for help. One family of 6 was interviewed has been inside their house in waist deep water for over 15 hours. Their refrigerator is floating and they haven't eaten. Recommendations were for them to get on their roof. In the rain. So sad.

Yes, my info from waiting on hold for 911 comes from 6am this morning. If the entire system is overloaded now, if any Houston residents know other rescue emergency numbers, fire dept, hospitals, ambulances, sheriff's dept, Houston office of emergency management, etc, etc, etc. Please post them and include the source where you found them and I will include them in my first post.

I just tried it, and it took me all the way to the point of donating $50 through PayPal, but I didn't submit the money (I don't have any $ in my PP account). Maybe you could add a backup credit or debit card and send it through that? It may depend on your source of funds PayPal is trying to take the money from.

I don't have it connected to a bank, no. It's all stored on the paypal account. I do have another paypal account that is connected to a bank, but I can't use that one because I already spent too much this month.

One thing though, if you could enlarge the pictures so I can see the amounts donated and details that would be great. If you're on Windows, you can use the software toolIrfanViewand double the size of image. After installing it, open the image and go to Image (it will accept ANY type of image), Resize/Resample (or hit CTRL+R) and then click the button that says Double.

Because it is very hard to read the tiny text of how much you donated, before you take a screen shot of the image of the email without cropping it or increasing the size. In your browser, you can also just hit CTRL and the plus key (+) at the same time, several times, and it will enlarge the font on the screen so it's easier to read. Then take the screen shot, and blur out your name with MSPaint or whatever tool you use.

Imgur.com also has tools to edit the image within their website. Just hold your mouse over the top right of the image and you'll see the drop down error, and choose "Edit".

Once under edit, it will take you to the crop/resize section. Make you have lock proportions checked. Then just increase the size of the image, in this example, I changed it from 1437 x 956 to 2000 x 1331. I just guessed, and if you keep the proportions locked, it will make sure the image doesn't get out of focus or look weird after you resize it. Then just click save, copy the BBcode link and paste it.

Finally, pleaseDO NOTdelete the link once you've uploaded it, unless you have a serious security reason for needing to deleting it. If you don't know how to do this or are confused, just email the image to me (see the scr.im link in my signature) and I will do this for you.

For Mac Users, I don't know how to tell you to do this, but the Imgur.com tools will also work on a Mac, but I don't know any free native or third party software to do this.

It's kind of like Instagram, but with a few more options. I'll be showing you the Windows 10 version here, but it looks pretty much exactly the same on all platforms. In Photoshop express, there is a button that says Autofix, you can press that, and it will instantly make it easier to read by making the text brighter and more vibrant. But, you can also crop the photo and make the visible portion of the text with the amount donated larger. As you can see, Photoshop Express, is a pretty rudimentary tool with only very basic functions.



If any Mac/Linux/ChromeOS or iPhone/Android users have suggestions on how to make the text larger and easier to read, feel free to post a tutorial on how to do so. Because, so far, every one of the pictures I've seen posted that was an email from the Red Cross it has been so tiny I had to bring my laptop screen up to my face to read the amount donated.

Mind you, I absolutely appreciate you donating, but of course vision gets worse as you age, and I can't' see the fine print as well as I used too.
