The Mattress Industry is Running the Biggest Scam. You boys still falling for it?
I've long believed that mattresses are a scam. The mattress industry is greatly scamming the consumer. What happens is they throw together five bucks worth of springs and padding, then turn around and charge the consumer hundreds. Hundreds of dollars. For what...? Springs and padding? Is that a joke? How is that hundreds of dollars, fellas? Understand what's going on here. There's a vast amount of retail stores across the country thriving solely on mattress sales. Isn't that crazy? Folks only buy a new mattress every couple of decades. How can these stores even survive?
The only explanation is that the markup is exponential. Five dollar mattresses are being sold for three hundred bucks. The entire industry is in on it. You boys ever wonder why the used mattress market is nearly non-existent? It seems folks can't give away their used mattress. You know why? It's because there's no value there. The materials aren't worth crap. No one wants a used mattress; not even for scrap. Even if it's only been gently used, it's still garbage. In fact, often time, you have to payto get someone to haul away that pile.
Honestly, I'm sick of the scam. I'm tired of it, fellas. What are some alternatives to mattresses? I'd like to either force these asses to start setting at fair prices, or maybe just knock them out of business.

You should go buy a used mattress partner. I'll probably be around when you ask how to get rid of bedbugs/ what the odds are of contracting HIV from a random needle stick.
But for real I'm so mad I paid $400 for a piece of furniture I spend 8 hours a day on for 10+ years >
. Terrible utility value

It's only a $5 mattress if I collect all the materials, and assemble them myself. No thanks, I'll take a $700 one that I don't have to mess with.

dumb thread. The contribution margin on all products is through the fukn roof. That's just what's become of the world. It doesn't cost $1.25 to mix up a bunch of dough and add half a teaspoon of chocolate on them but you still pay that much for a donut. This is nothing new OP. It's not a scam it's just the way things are these days. Society is going to go to complete eternal fuking hell if something isn't done about this.
The sad thing is even with all this inflation and prices going up wages aren't going up at anywhere near the same rate. Before you get mad at me thinking I'm defending minimum wage going up consider this: the purchasing power parity today of the minimum wage per hour is lower than it was 50 years ago. In simpler words 50 years ago, with one hour of minimum wage work you could purchase more goods than you can today with one hour of minimum wage work.
How is it that with all the advancement in society and all this progress people are able to afford less? That is beyond fukn up man. 50 years ago you could live a decent life on minimum wage. Today you probably struggle even staying alive earning minimum wage. All these companies that drive these insane contribution margins on their products are going to fuking pay one day when no one can afford to bother purchasing their shyt.
Tldr this isn't exclusive to mattresses all products are overpriced not sure why you're mad at mattresses.

Mattresses are sold at about a 4x gross margin - a $100 mattress costs about $25 to make overseas. But they are bulky as **** to ship and truck in, and people want to flop on the different mattresses before they buy one, so you have to distribute them through brick and mortar stores that cost a dickload.
Not sure what the final margin on mattresses is, but I'm willing to bet that is somewhere around the rule-of-thumb 10%.
Call me partner and I'll neg you.

4k mattress, NZ sheep duvet, 1200 threadcount sheets crew. Feels like you're sleeping in lotion. Ever since I got this set up, I can fall asleep almost instantly, I have awesome vivid dreams, I wake up completely relaxed, I can easily sleep 8+ hours, etc., etc. There are so many benefits, I could go on for hours.
I don't care if I'm getting scammed. I dont have any idea of how to make any of these products myself. What they contribute to my life is priceless. Also, this mattress will last me 10+ years easily.
Suk my dink OP, suk my dink.
