Yes because the minimum wage going up should have a ripple effect on all wages eventually. The person who used to make 15 will now want 20 etc. I am not a fan of it drastically increasing like this and it's obvious it's a political move. Idk if it'll make a difference because it will give companies an excuse to even further increase their contribution margins especially when it's a drastic increase like this. It would be much better imo if minimum wage was tied to inflation and kept increasing every year or so.

As for making things more balanced there's not much you can do. Humans and every other species suck balls. We're very greedy at heart. Companies will keep upping their prices and continue to increase their contribution margins even with it becoming cheaper to produce with each passing year due to an advancement in technology. You can't stop it. Reading page 2 it seems like you have a pretty good idea of this.

As you said there's a reason no one is making mattresses for $25 and selling it for $100. Imagine the profit you'd make from all the customers you get when you're selling it for a quarter of the price.

The only way this will get better is when people are literally no longer able to afford anything and their own greed fuks them over because no one is buying shyt. Then you have a massive recession and then eventually things stabilize and then humans go back to their own selfish ways until things get fukd all over again.

lol. maybe you've just never had a really nice mattress? i used to wake up with a sore back and or neck like 5/7 days a week. went out and bought myself a nice new mattress, extremely pricey, but I've had it for about 2 months now and have yet to have a sore neck or back since. its incredible. worth every penny to not wake up sore. I wake up better rested as well.

Somewhat legit point OP. The scam starts with the sleeping pill industry covering up the science behind getting a successful nights sleep, which includes falling asleep quickly.
If more people had less stress in life, was active enough to develop fatigue and exhaustion, and ate a low calorie diet. No one would have trouble sleeping.

Had a good friend in the industry. Worked in Japan for a manufacture, and told me it pretty much is a scam. Said to just lay on one and if it felt good, buy it, even if it was inexpensive.

and lol @ the miscer who said the industry averages 10% gross margin. They're pushing 50%+. And I'd think 50% would be on the low end.

I agree OP. Bought 250$ king size mattress on amazon with a 40$ bed frame and never looked back. LOL at betas paying a grand+ for a pile of memory foam with some tag that gets covered up by a sheet 3 minutes after you put it in your room

my mattress is about 7 years old and has been wore out for at least 2.

Almost 1k at sleep country.

Not sure what I'm gonna do next (king size)



The best thing I ever did was buy a solid frame for it though. Box spring on wheels moved around on the hard wood all the time.

Agreed. I wanted a mattress and the dude started taking me on a tour of the store, explaining how a $5,000.00 mattress was the key to happiness and if I spend 30% of my life sleeping, why not blow tons of cash on a mattress (finance it brah!).

I no thanks jeff'd outta there and found a different store with a $160 mattress. bought it.

I know one acquaintance, a single mother of three, whose mattress salesman convinced her to take out a loan for 14 grand for a double queen-XL "family edition." Four. Teen. Grand. She kept telling me how it was an investment and that it would be passed down to her kids. Her salesman really sold her down the river.
