Florida Highway Patrol has to (or had to, I don't follow it) write at least 2 tickets per hour (http://www.miamiherald.com/news/loca...166462402.html)
If you're going 10mph over the limit here, the ticket is $200. So a FHP officer is expected to write ~400 worth of tickets per hour, or 3200 per shift, which is an insane amount considering they get paid like $35k/year and drive $40k cars.
They are nothing but revenue farmers with authority and militarized gear.

Surprised this thread doesn't have more traction.
Many people I've seen are saying that the nurse should have just obeyed the cop to avoid any trouble. That's just dumb. The nurse could get sued/lose her ability to practice nursing ever again.
It's also a HIPPA violation to take blood without consent/warrent/being under arrest. Glad the misc is actually on the side of the nurse vs the cop.

Being in the health field, and having worked a hospital, I can tell you that the cop bit off way more than he could chew. In the hospital, we live and breathe the law. We follow it to a T, and research every update to it that we can find. Our livelihood depends on it. We're are front and center when it comes to the medical malpractice arena. That cop was incredibly foolish to try and intimidate a nurse into breaking the law.

"The patient, William Gray, is a reserve police officer in Rigby, Idaho, according to the city's police. They thanked Wubbels for protecting his rights.
Gray is a semi-truck driver and was on the road when a pickup truck fleeing from authorities slammed into him and his truck burst into flames, police reports say."
The nurse was obstructing an investigation of an innocent guy who got hit by a dumb ass evading police? Makes sense

wouldn't any evidence obtained illegally be thrown out by a judge if the case ever escalades? obviously it will since there was a dead person.

No Utah CDL statute purportedly implying consent supersedes the constitution. The officers in this case violated clearly established law exposing them to individual liability if the nurse wants to sue.
