It's not going to be that strong when it hits Florida man, it'll die back down to a category 4 with winds most likely at 140mph.

Good. I hope you're right. Wouldn't be the first thing Lee County got wrong.

I hope we all can take a moment to spare a prayer or kind thought for the people of the islands getting hit by this.

I'm in Florida and it's honestly a little scary staring down the barrel of one of these storms, but it's NOTHING compared to being on a low-lying Caribbean island in a wooden home or worse. And America has some amazing infrastructure to get aid to people that need it.

I hope these people ride out the storm quickly and safely.

Just went and bought 7 cases of water, publix had them piled up at the front and in the 10 minutes I was there they sold probably 100 cases and they were almost gone. Pretty sure if it shows any hint of coming up the coast I'm gunna bail out, 150-175mph wind is no joke that chit kills people.

Agreed. I usually stick around for things like this just because I've always made it through but if Irma doesn't turn north when I expect it to I'm packing up and heading out.

Hoping it shanks its way up the east coast and does not direct hit any cities.

A saving grace. But really, Hurricane Hermine was a cat 1 storm and knocked out power for a week at my place. I will bail out long before it gets too close. Tallahassee sucks for preparation and the aftermath of storms.

This. You Gulf brahs do not want this thing to hit Cuba.

If they're still standing it means they can withstand a Cat 5. Wilma took care of the weak trees and roofs. There would be damage, just not Andrew scale.
