Well let me tell you OP - you are actually delusional. You have deluded yourself into a false sense of security.

Let me ask you this - if a 400lb gorilla came at you, would you feel intimidated then? Despite the gorilla having no BJJ training or whatever?

What about if someone got into your face, and you knew they were an MMA champ. Would you feel as invincible then?

Cocky kids like you are ten a penny. The big 'I AM' and then you read about them dying when they get KTFO on the streets and hit their head on the kerb.

Learn some humility.

There are guys on here who have been training in combat sports for decades and never feel the need to 'brag' about their 'prowess'.

Real men don't feel the need to prove themselves.

Grow the phuck up.
This.

Geoff Thompson said something like "A karate black belt would get rekt in a street fight by an untrained 14 stone rugby player."

And OP it's not you being able to win a fight against 99% of the public, it's the 1% that don't give a phuck that you need to worry about.

If anything when I did kickboxing and mma it taught me there are some dudes out there that definitely don't look "tough" weigh 50lb less and they would hit you three times before you even got your hands up.

Um....nope. The street is not 'training'. The worst that can happen is you black out and get head stomped for being a cocky little bitch. Next thing you know you're eating through a straw for the next 10 years or you're a vegetable/dead.

Obviously this is just from a small personal sample pool. But the only 4 guys I know who trained MMA, are also the guys with the worst conflict resolution skills and let small slights go straight puffed up chest mode because in their head they be like "did you just bump into me? I know MMA bish!"

Geoff Thompson is right. Karate black belts are a dime a dozen. An amateur boxer will tear apart an average black belt. The rest of your post echoes what I said in the OP. Combat sports teaches you humility so you don't go around and try to bully others who look like easy target, some of which will make you eat through a straw for months.

If you read the thread you would see that I already addressed this. People who train are less likely to engage in a street fight. Read the part I said about humility. I am not cocky, because I know from my training experience that a frail looking guy can fuk me up if he's skilled.
If I was insecure, I'd train combat sports.

Think about that.
If you're insecure, you'd either train combat sports, or you would get inferiority complex because other people do.

Definitely a small sample pool brah. Most trained people, not just trained but people who fight actively are chill about conflicts. If someone starts chit with them they'll just laugh and only fight when they're hit first. It's usually the newbs who puff out their chests like that.

I don't think there's any reputable kickboxing "chains". You can PM me a gym's name and I can look a see if it's good. It's usually easy to tell if a gym is a mcdojo or not.

Strong thread. Didnt read anything except the topic, but can agree with that.
I think some basic knowledge in combat sports is necessary. Even if just a bit.
+ its super fun. Have been training in boxing/mma for a while now. Just switched it up to Jiu Jitsu.
I dont think its any useful in the streets. Ive knocked out more than enough people without any proper technique/knowledge lol.
I did break 4 of 5 fingers the last time I knocked someone out so streetfighting, but thats a different story

Yeah I like Muay thai too, started training a few years ago buttore my meniscus like 3 months in a it took a good 8 months to heal properly after surgery. Started BJJ and never looked back, I prefer it as you can train at full intensity without injurys

Nah just karate lol

Did do alot of self defense stuff that the sensei bought it from his days in the navy, and i did it with one of the boys and we were super competitive which helped.

Not the most practical martial art for fighting in general, especially at lower levels, but it took a long time and a lot of dedication and effort to get there.

Best cardio i ever did too.

Best thing thou is learning confidence and when not to fight, like this time some fukker tried to fight me on the rugby field and i stood up and laughed in his face so he slunk away.

Yeah, you're right. You shouldn't train combat sports, you can't afford to lose anymore brain cells.

The one thing I have noticed about all combat athletes is that they are low tier males. Every single story consists of them getting bullied when they were younger which leads them into training. Top tier males don't get bullied at school so they never have the need to train.
