Where do we get the acceptance that grow ups need babysitting? He's a grown man (a grown mature man) and appears reasonably intelligent and should be able to make up his own mind when he can go out and play. Besides, if its dangerous for him, it's just as dangerous for the reporter.

My cousin stayed in Englewood and lives 3 blocks from the beach. Is he ****ed? No one can get a hold of him I guess but that could be for a number of reasons. I saw on the news that the storm surge could reach 15 feet.

I was thinking the same when I was watching it on CNN. When the eye wall had passed the reported yelled at some guy walking outside that he has to get inside. Five minutes later he is walking down there himself too.

Not sure why everyone saying its overhyped. Most of the keys are underwater, the streets of downtown Miami have been tranformed into a river knee deep, haven't seen much footage of south beach but I'm sure ocean drive is part of the ocean now and there hasn't been much footage of ocean front properties in coral gables and the likes because everyone evacuated, but those houses are probably surrounded by water as well. Not to mention Cuba, parts of DR, and those other small islands got WRECKED.

I was in Sarasota. Wanted to get out early but my parents were being weird.

Then Irma shifted west and was supposed to make landfall as a 4 or 5 in Sarasota.

By that point we thought we had to stay but we were still early.

Didn't know exactly what would happen but it was like hmmm..stay here and potentially get fuked. Go through a period of hell, potentially lose power, etc.

Or get out and face it weaker or not face it altogether..

Choice was simple

No regrets about foreplanning
