no, if you set up your faceID with your eyes open, your eyes will have to be open for it to work. plus your gf would have a much easier time using your thumb and opening up your iphone lmao

I have a samsung s8 and it already does all this and does it better.. I came from an Iphone 6 and I really liked that phone. This new one meh.

So what about when im using the phone in the dark, want to check it in the middle of the night, while im ****ting with the lights off, while Im riding my bike, while I want to check it discretely at work, a theater, a restaraunt, basically anywhere I dont want to look right at it to turn it on? How do i even test this feature out before buying? Oh right, i cant.

yea, I can see how the faceID could end up being annoying if you wanna look at your phone during class/at work. but I think it will still recognize your face at night. plus they still have the iphone 8 and you could always try the faceID chit at the apple store

Let me spin it this way, what exactly is the point in switching from TouchId, which worked perfecrtly and extremely efficiently, to FaceID, which apparently cant even work at an Apple controlled Demo, seems more cumbersome and limited...??

If it aint broke, dont fix it. In order to "look" at the camera to scan your face, you have to hold the phone 95% of the time. Holding the phone=TouchId.

So the phone can be unlocked at Step 1 (pick it up) but Apple now makes it more complicated and requires Step 2: Pick up, then look at phone.

Takes more time, more room for error and annoyance.

the only explanation is that they wanted to make the entire phone and screen and they didnt have the means to do so without getting rid of TouchID. So they created some pseudo-futuristic "FaceID" which is probably entirely annoying and buggy in order to save 2 square cm of phone real estate for their "home screen-less" phone.

The galaxy is able to make most of the front screen without stuoid bezels, and still have a home screen. Just change the shape from circle to ovale and scan a smaller portion of the thumb. But wait, thats not "revolutionary"

To be fair the face Id didn't work because the phone was just restarted. You always have to enter in the password at reboot.

Gonna have to agree with this. That phone is pretty ugly in comparison to the apple lineup and current phones on the market.

Did they even add the OLED screen people were expecting? That will drastically improve battery life.

Last week I put my iPhone 6 on top of my car and drove down the highway...lol never saw it again.

Went into Verizon and bought the iPhone 7 for $650 on an impulse without even knowing or caring they were about to release new models.

Good to see the 8 is virtually no improvement over the 7. I do appreciate the new technology of the X and new trends apple always sets. All you *******s are just jealous hateful bigots that you can't create some of the amazing chit apple creates.

Anyway they also lowered the price of the iPhone 7 down to $550 and I get 14 days of price protection through Verizon so I will get $100 back. Basically I got a great piece of technology at a pretty good price.

7/7 plus will remain as top iphones for a while it seems. First time im not impressed by a new apple phone

FaceID is more secure, Finger prints are not too hard to mimic.....especially when it just learns your pattern and thats it. FaceID will learn....adapt, and adjust accordingly.

They said it themseleves, TouchID is 1:50,000, FaceID is 1:5,000,000? or something like that.


Security is all the rage, step up or step out.....



Edit: Apple holds a patent for an lcd that can read finger prints......so next years iphone may do just that.

i have a feeling the 7 won't drop that much in pricing. the 6 is still expensive as ****.

i would like to not buy a new phone, but i broke my screen and apple wouldn't fix it, so i went to a third party place to fix it and now it sucks ass.
