Like people who think Blade Runner was boring or the Big Bang Theory for stupid people (like the show or not, it's target is not stupid people...), so not everyone will "get" Rick and Morty, by far the best animated stuff since first few seasons of Archer or early Simpson's but far more intelligent than any of those. Look up Dunning Kruger effect...

Agreed, first one I was like "WTF am I watching?" but watched it anyway as it was so unusual and compelling. Now it's a must watch and I have very few of those, including overrated pleb series like GOT.

When I first heard about the show, I thought the first few episodes were ok, but didn't get the hype. It was funny enough for me to keep watching, and then I understood.

It definitely starts out slowly, but it really does end up living up to the hype imo. It seems to get better as it goes along.

Well, there's your problem. It isn't that the show sucks, it's just that you personally have an extremely limited concept of what type of entertainment is amusing to you.

Yeah there's plenty of dumb humor in a show like Rick and Morty, but there's also a ton of deeper humor that flies over a lot of people's heads. It's similar to Beavis and Butthead or old school South Park in that sense.

I hated SP when it came out and only after giving it some shows did I "get it." It was mostly the cheap a$$ animation I couldn't warm up to and found it distracting but realized it was all part of the thing that's SP. All time classic was when they went after Scientology and Cruise wouldn't come out of the closet..

shows cool, the only thing I don't like is that it's burned. EVERYONE talks about and is always referencing rick and morty in my city. Realizing how its so talked about makes me not want to watch it

Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree on Big Bang theory. The "intelligence" behind that show is incredibly overrated. Plus, watch it without a laughing track, and you'll be confused as to when to laugh. Easily one of the most overhyped shows of the past decade.

Never been confused as to when to laugh. I enjoyed first few seasons when it was straight nerd/science humor and hot dumb chick next door only a fantasy, then it went to chit as most do. If you needed the laughing track to know what was intended as funny, then you didn't get the show. I literally knew people just like them in school.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewers head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

How many episodes do I need to watch before I find it funny?
