Schools in Michigan letting out early...

Because it's going to be 90 degrees...Just lmao, what a time to be alive. I can only remember two instances where we were released early due to the weather and these were both during severe Ice storms.

Kids now have life on easy mode.

haha I remember we had a day like this back when I was in elementary school. they shut off all the lights and let us lay on the ground to try and keep cool. It did not work. we stayed the whole day tho from what I remember

My school had no AC, or even fans. And I had to wear khaki's, a button up shirt, tie and blue blazer.

We never let out once for heat.

It's more likely the teachers not wanting to work more than anything else. Can you you imagine having to look after a bunch of brats in a sweaty 90+ degree room without air conditioning? I'd use any excuse to take the day off.

It was brutal at times, but yeah we survived. In reality they should have dismissed however because none of us wanted anything to do with learning. We would be sweating in class, just miserable. It was counter productive and a waste of everyones time.

I live in an area where all the buildings are 2x the age of me however (or older). There are plenty of places without AC.

My high school was built in the 60's. The main house had no AC, the two newer wings were built in the 80's and had AC. Everyone wished for A and B house classes 2nd semester because they knew it would be comfortable. I can remember some late may/early june days where the lights were off on the entire top floor trying to keep cool. It was tough, but we soldiered through that chit. Now the school is an arts and technology school, AC all over that motherfuker.

It happened twice. Once in Middle school, where it was raining early in the morning, but the temps dropped really quickly, and the ice accumulated on the roads. They released us at noon-ish and it was a few inches thick...I lived at the end of a long street and our bus got stuck, completely lost traction and slid into someones yard. We basically slid/skated 3rd of a mile to our cul de sac.

2nd time was in HS, they didn't even chance it, just called it off.

I grew up in the south where it regularly got 90+ degrees starting around May and we didn't have A/C in the school. We weren't allowed to bring towels/rags because someone used one as a weapon once, so they banned them. It sucked. That being said, they'd cancel school or let us out at noon if it got "too cold." LOL

I went to college in Michigan and they never cancelled, no matter how bad the roads were. I had to walk about 2 miles to my calculus class in a blizzard with snow up by my knees in many places. Cars simply couldn't navigate the roads yet. It was either walk or take a snow mobile (series, some did).
