This is just one area. New homes are only being built in nicer looking neighborhoods. Realistically the cheapest place you could find is around $500k and those look like crack dens. I wouldn't live in them even if I got paid to 100% srs.

SRS Question, why stay in Seattle? I know most people stay around those areas because they have a baller job at a major company like Microsoft, but if you arent raking in the dough why not move to a more manageable area?

Im actually in Philly now, but most people on the East Coast have no loyalty here and a lot go out to the west coast. I myself likely will move out to the mountain west at some point just because its a bit cheaper in a lot of areas and a bit more scenic, plus traffic here is ass.

But dont get how you ok with those prices. Philly is my no means cheap but you can at least get affordable housing. Im in the process of leasing a 1 bedroom with 2 garage parking spots, 14ft ceilings, a sunroom, french doors, pool, gym, guard, etc for $1300... and there are a lot of options even cheaper...

Id love to move to the Pacific coast but cant fathom paying that much on rents.

$1,500,000 could buy you 10,000 sqr ft on a few acres. Only know this because I just looked it up.

It's pretty cool I must admit. There are showers now that you can control the water temp to the nearest 0.1 F degree with a digital interface instead of a knob.
Cool and all but if you were at Home Depot picking out what you're installing in the house and you see the numbers keep climbing, pretty soon the voice activated 0.1 F degree shower valve looks like it's going back.

What's next, a toilet with bluetooth that keeps track of the number and size of your chits?

I actually had a job offer in SF a few months back...looked at cost of living and nearly had a heart attack. Everywhere in the west has insane rent. I imagine anywhere worth living in the east is the same deal. Like people who pay $5k/month for a closet sized studio in nyc.

Holy chit!

1.5 mil here can buy you a small ranch. There an 800 acre plot just north of me going for about that much. With a house included, you can still get a nice house on up to 100 acres.

I don't need 100 acres. 2-3 acres would be nice though anything more would just be a hassle to maintain imo.

Nah man, not even close. NYC and DC are prettty much the only super expensive areas on the East Coast. like i said you can get a decent 1bed around here for $1100 or so, a studio for even less, just not in the city center.

Anything more than 1800 for renting a 1 bed IMO is ridiculous.... no matter where you are at.

I moved to cali, but gdamn i miss washington, our state has some nicest looking neighborhoods that modernity has created. I dont know if said you dont like living in washington or that area, but the grass is greener on the other side anyways. Orrrrr you can slight downgrade to Bellevue, which I liked alot. Not tacoma though. Never tacoma.

I meant just ballard. Want to move somewhere east like lake front kirkland or mercer island. Which happens to be some of the most expensive suburbs in the state. Don't like being so close to downtown anymore. So many weirdos everywhere. I still love the general area though. Rather kill myself than move to tacoma or eastern washington. Been eyeing the san jose area actually. Looks pretty nice and has that small town feel I like.

I am from the area. My parents own property there.

Even in Wallinford, Fremont, Greenlake, you can pull a decent spot for a million.

The only one that stood out from your lot is the last house.

Buy in Maple Valley or Hobart and live like a (redneck) king.
Around 6 years ago there was a property in Hobart that was $500,000 for 10 acres and had 2 houses on it. I wish I bought it. Being so close to Issaquah and Maple Valley its probably worth almost double now.

Why do you feel the need for such a big fuking house in the first place OP? Unless you are going to have a big family I see that chit as a total waste. I want a nice size kitchen and bathroom other than that I don't give a fuk. To me it is just more space to fill with expensive furnishings and more crap I have to clean.

Those prices are more or less what we have to pay for in most of B.C. and Toronto. Didn't know it was that bad in Seattle already, figured most of Cali/NYC and small pockets of places in the U.S. were bad, guess more places along the coastlines were starting to catch up.
