I love the "bringing awareness to police brutality" argument. 90% of non-football fans, who have never heard of ****n Kaepernick, have absolutely no idea why they're kneeling... other than the President made a remark and this is their rebuttal to it. You want to bring awareness to the problem? Be an activist and do so. Do so in a way to reach people outside the pro sports envelope. Whether or not kneeling is meant to disrespect the flag and those who died for our country is irrelevant. That is how people are INTERPRETING it... and they're getting angry and even more divided about it. So instead of nipping it in the bud and being vocal about exactly what it is everyone is kneeling for (other than a couple of half-assed Kaepernick interviews from almost a year ago), the NFL's solution is to have even more people kneel, just adding fuel to the fire. Although not as extreme, this is akin to rioting in the streets and trashing your own town when a cop shoots a black guy. It's understood that you're angry, but your response does literally nothing to help your cause, and in most cases only makes it worse. People should be talking about police brutality, but instead we're talking about disrespecting the American flag, taking almost all attention away from police brutality... not helping the original cause one tiny bit. And that lies solely on every single player, coach, and owner taking a knee.

It absolutely is their right to take a knee during the national anthem. But that's not the point. I have the right to dance around in a speedo in front of elementary school kids at their bus stop to bring awareness to autism. But that doesn't mean it's a great way to go about it.

- The optics of watching people disrespect the flag and feel justified doing it is gross to me.
- The idea the NFL endorses this as the owners allow their employees do it in uniform is upsetting as I really like the product.
- I am amazed no one bothers to do basic research on police violence, study the cases, and form a coherent goal/policy position.
- At the end of the day, I like the product and I'm willing to ignore the fact I think they're doing gross actions. I don't think a lot of malice is meant, I just think they're stupid and most people in entertainment I like are stupid but I'm not a fan of theirs for their political opinions so I wish this would just die.

No, im offended my people being offended by it instead of being offended my the injustice that people are taking a knee for. Its not illegal to kneel, its a respectful form of protest. It is illegal to cut a whole in a flag and wear it like kid rock did, it is illegal to display the flag horizontally flat like the nfl does on the field.

No one is claiming it's illegal or against the rules. No one is taking anyone's 1st amendment right away from them.

But this is 100% disrespectful to the flag, our way of life, and those who fought and died for this nation. We are better than this.

The NFL can do what it wants, it's a private business but there are consequences to actions...One is boycott the games and the products which endorse the games.

Money talks and this BS will walk....If enough people boycott you will see every football player standing in the future, guaranteed.

Don't care if they kneel, I just don't agree with why they kneel. This whole "were oppressed" bullshyt started when Michael Brown got shot in Ferguson. You attack a police officer, get shot and then your family screams racism and police brutality. A certain group commits the majority of crime but feels oppressed because the police look at them a lot harder. So lets kneel down in front of TV cameras and blame everyone else for the problems we caused.

"Police Brutality" happens in maybe .05% of traffic stops. Of those .05%, possibly 10% is unwarranted. It shouldn't be a national outcry all because a few people got tested poorly and social.media ran with the story.

Nope. Free speech is free speech even if its something other people might not like. Obviously the people kneeling have a legitimate beef and have every right to protest it. I always thought it was a weak way to do it but the people freaking out so bad over something so minor have made it grow to become something bigger than it could have ever been on its own. The people losing their minds over it are the best thing that could have ever happened to people doing such a harmless protest against something so systemic and heinous.

No, its their right and it should be. I think it's just about the dumbest way to protest what is happening, and I think a less racially motivated critique of police brutality would be much more effective, but I'm not offended.

Offense cannot be given, only taken. That being said we have a lot of sensitive sallies who are all for free speech until its regarding something they don't like. Another thing to remember is that protests are NEVER popular when they are happening, hence the need for them in the first place.

It is a peaceful demonstration, I feel it is self serving and disingenuous for most participants, but it is their right to do it.

I'm starting to wonder what the point is though.

Protests are usually a starting point to some movement. This has been going on for a while and there is still no voice or momentum. Kaepernick was the face of it, but he hasn't said anything.

A few have spoken out about the issues. It would be great if there were more.

Why do they have to do it during the anthem? Why can't they do it before the coin toss or something else.

personally, I think most "police brutality" cases shown on the news is bull****.

Thugs being thugs breaking the law

cops show up

thugs resist arrest and in some cases, attack cops

cops shoot them in defense.


Are there bad cops who abuse power? 100% yeah but most major cases shown on news aren't.


I'm not black but i did had cops pulled gun on me (being wrong place and wrong time) but i ain't stupid. I did everything they told me to do and no sudden movement. After some questioning they let me go.

The whole thing is based on a lie. Police brutality is an issue. It's not race-based though.

I think there were approximately 760 police murders this year. Only 9 of them were black.
