I saw this thread right after I saw another person's thread talking about he renting an apartment for a good deal in the middle of a uni campus for 160 years. He's the same 43 yo guy that has worked a job where he was paid just a bit above minimum wage over 2+ decades. If I tried that chit right now, I couldn't even afford basic utilities if I were to move out my mom's house.


I can blame the era for my problems, it seems as though that almost the price of every goods nowadays have increased while the wage for being paid has been flat as a tall girl's boobs for the same time frame.




I can't wait for the world economy to crash so I can start from scratch to prosper. idk how but it sure as hell beats the conventional path of going to college for a growing worthless degree for a field that's gonna get automated sometime soon.

A tad over 23, assets of about 60k (mostly index funds, small amount of bonds and an even smaller amount of cash in the bank) no debt besides transient credit card debt

Bearing in mind I've been working since 19, and very high levels of compulsory retirement contributions to a defined benefit account (ie fixed guaranteed returns) with high levels of co-contributions....

Got a bit over a mil.

Not going to say what my death benefit it, but suffice to say I'm worth more dead than alive.

If you don't mind me asking what do you do for work ? Anything inparticular you could recommend to me? I am only 28 and believe I can still make it. Investments like realestate, strict budgeting, buying within your means, stocks ?

This is purely defined benefit. I set my contribution to the max level at age 19 and never saw the money, and I can't access it until I retire. So no budgeting issue, I put the money out of my own reach. Investments are a separate issue.

My main career was in regulatory economics, which needs law and econometrics. But what you do is less important than how well and how consistently you do it.

Seems like it's the only way to hit the big time these days. Even though there are a ton of different ways to do those things, it all comes back to being an incredibly effective marketer of yours (or someone elses) products, or using platforms like ebay and amazon that already have the traffic in order to sell desirable products through good keyword research.

Some ppl do ok (like myself), whereas others are making millions. But what is cool is that there is no ceiling if you're good.

Most individual sellers on Amazon fba are just reselling cheap consumer junk from Alibaba. People made money in the early days, but I think it's way too late now.

Did have about 6 figs of savings but no longer since i bought a house and furnished it.

Pays $500-$1000 over min payment crew, so wont have substantial liquid cash for a while but will have a paid off house in less a little over 10 years. And ofcourse that could be sold, rented out, etc.
