I think it's because it's not ideal. I mean you can like a shredded guy, a lean guy, a hulky/swole type, etc. It's equivalent to guys liking a woman to be either petite or thick, with variances in ass/boob size and shape. A woman saying she likes fat guys is a guy saying he likes whales. Preference is a thing, but it looks dumb if a girl is surrounded by Chads but then picks the Timothy out of the group because she claims that's what she finds attractive. No different from a guy who sees a group of HBBs but goes after the one girl in the group who's the ugly friend. Just looks like cope, picking the worst options because you know you have no chance with the better.

Fattys are the easy road....

Its the end of the night, bar is about to close, the options left are a fit hbb/10 and a "curvy" person. Curvy is a slam dunk and while they're no where near hbb/10 status at 2am good enough is good enough. That subconsciously bleeds into everyday life for some people.

Just my theory.
