The important thing I'm seeing whether in debt, or saving a ton of money is always make sure you have a plan!

If you have goal in mind and a plan that works to execute it, you are on a good track and will accomplish what you want!

When you lose sight of the goal and start spending too much, or not paying off this, or not saving that amount, you fall off.

So whether behind, or 10 steps ahead, just make sure you have a plan.

not enough for my income. saved up for a house downpayment, paid down car and student loan debt in my twenties so I did not start until I was 26.


right now have 38,000 in 401k and 17,000 in pension. so around 55,000. but every year about 15K gets thrown in (company matching/pension) so its going up fast.
-Max Squat drops from 415 to 200 after going 1 degree past 90 degree knee bend crew.

I'm 35. My wife is 34. Both employed. Both with pensions. Household income is about 185k a year pre-tax. Our half a mill house is fully paid and we have no debt. We have about 250k saved up.

Yeah, Most people are stuck in the "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality and its ****ing toxic. Its mind blowing just how much you can save if you cut out the BS. I know guys who are making $100k/yr and are living near paycheck to paycheck because every payday they have a laundry list of bills/debt to pay. My fuking friend financed a $7k washing machine/dryer and is making payments on that. The FUK?

That's not net worth. Thread title asked about how much saved. I did not include a snip of wife's 401k, rollover IRA or $200k cash. Total is 1.7M and yes it is more than enough to retire on and live very well. Also did not list retirement income from 5 pensions or Social Security.

Age 23, 0 debt
$12,000 in cash and $17,000 in my pension. Started saving cash almost 2 years ago. Will continue to save $500-$1000 a month. My pension goes up $800-$900 or more a week depending on the project I'm working on. Starting in December I'm going to start contributing 10% of my income to a 401k. Company matches 35% of that. I'm hoping to have over 200k in my retirement account within the next 4 years
