My oldest turns 7 tomorrow. He's into legos which means I'm into legos. Got him a 1,500 piece set. That should occupy some evenings when the snow starts to fall.

I kind of really want this $1,000 Millennium Falcon. 7,500 pieces of awesome. Problem is, all the nerds are buying them up.

It took me 2 evenings to mow my yard because the bag was filling up so quick from all the dry grass, pine needles, and pine cones. It is humid as fuk at the moment here in the panhandle. Looks like fall from inside but certainly doesn't feel like fall.

$1,000 for a Lego set? No thanks Jeff. So much more I could buy with that, like a black rifle or more ammo. Then just buy kid a $100 set. He would be happy with that.

I have probably spent around $1.5K on Legos for my kids through the years. I always ended up building the sets and super gluing each piece so that they wouldn't break as easy.

You buy a little platform and lego characters for it. You can buy expansion levels and characters/vehicles. Play lego ghost busters, simpsons, back to the future, lord of the rings stuff like that.

Welp, were done with football for my son
Supposed to have a game tonight, we get there, coached didn't show up at all
The other team cancelled the night before and the guy that runs it decided not to tell anyone
The league is a joke, gonna see if academy will take back the speed flex helmet(they will take shoes back within a year of purchase, regardless of condition)

Think I had my first legit proud dad moment last night. Kid's toy had a dead battery, he went and found a screwdriver on the counter that I had forgotten was there and went to town on that battery cover. He didn't get it but was pretty damn close.

LOL. Dem feels, I know them.

My youngest has always been very independent. He was 8 when he asked for his own 'real tools' for Christmas. That Christmas he asked for wood, nails, screws, etc as well, so that he could build things.

My FIL built him a small workbench and brought it over to him while the wife and I were at work. We come home and have sawdust all over the living room because he was trying it out. The wife was furious but I sat back and just chuckled. LOL

He just turned 12 and has no issue with taking things apart and trying to fix them. His toolboxes sit right next to mine in the garage. So glad that I don't have to open up his Nerf guns to replace batteries or fix the jammed 'bullet'. He does all that himself now.

They are. Parents have ruined youth sports.

I coached my middle son's baseball team for 7 years. I could write a book on the shenanigans that I have witnessed through the years. Parents telling their kids to fight ours, parents wanting to fight our parents, coaches mouthing off to my kids, and on and on. I carry a pistol everywhere I go and even on the ballfield. There were times where I was glad that I had it on me while we left the ballpark.

The progressives have decided to allow girls in boy scouts. Surely this will end well. RIP boy scouts along with Eminem's career. Fun while it lasted.

Yes, most of them believe that their kid is going to get a scholarship to a college to play ball and then from there, who knows. I always tried to share the statistics of them even playing high school ball let alone college and/or pro. The stats are not on their side.

I was always hard on my son, but I spend a lot of time with him teaching him mechanics. He was a model student in that he listened to me and understood what I wanted him to do. I probably went over-board myself with how much I taught him. But at the end of the day, I always told him to just go out and have fun. When he struck out or made an error, I would always tell him to move past it. I have a lot of good memories of him and his friends playing baseball together. There are many proud moments and sad ones as well. I wouldn't trade that for anything. It's just sad that most parents are missing out on that aspect of youth sports.
