Bummer that you live in MD. There are ways of getting around your state's potato AWB, but they basically restrict you owning most standard configuration AR15s, and require a heavy barrel setup

Truly the salad days for AR15s.

I remember buying my first one in early 2005 a few months after the 1994 "Assault Weapons" ban ended. Wasn't nearly the diversity in the market that there is now.

The market has improved greatly.

As late as spring/summer 2012 the best deal going was a 6920 (the old carry handle rear sight, basic can't mount to it handguard, A2 grip) was ~$1,180 if you could find a Walmart that had or could order them. And that wasn't just the best deal on a real Colt, that was one of the best deals going period as you couldn't really get anything as good for less, or better for the same amount.

And now...plus inflation in there...it's crazy

I got mine last week, it's a screaming deal I almost bought 2 of them. Paid $709 at Grabagun. I have yet to shoot it but a buddy bought the same one the same day I did. He shot it last week and it was flawless.

Palmetto has some great optics for good prices and you get 10 mags with it.

I wish ammo prices would drop drastically.

Ammo prices are fantastic right now. Seriously, BUY AMMO NOW. Do not wait for it to get better.

Buy federal and do the rebate. Last I saw you could get 5 cents back per round on up to like 8k rifle rounds that are already below 30 centers per round for .223 I mean come on
