Lol, he has a gun safe downstairs of his own and he said when he dies (always smh when he says this kinda **** lol) he's gonna give everything to me and my brother. So my brother gets the gun safe he has now, and he picked up another for me. Didn't even know he got another one and since I've been buying guns lately asked if I could grab it now.

Of course I did get him a gift for his bday too =p

Thnx brah

Went up to CSU last night with some old college buddies/roomies and hit the football game at the spanking new stadium. Stayed up there overnight and walked around the campus to check out the old stomping grounds and new upgrades. Came home this afternoon.

I'm beat. Drank more than I have in awhile before/during/after the game, didn't get much sleep, lost my voice yelling . . . good times.

Have you started your countdown to retirement?

How is the spending freeze going? I'm still on pace for less than $50 this month. Painful at first but getting used to it.

Retirement count-down: 4 years, 2.5 months to go. 2017 has been a blur, and it will be over soon.

My spending for the week was about $175. $75 was groceries (no alcohol or soda purchased/consumed). $100 was Amazon stuff, like some more nitrile gloves. (Kinda essential stuff, but not really.) But the Amazon was partially offset by limiting my driving for the week. I only drove about 3 miles total for the week (to get groceries).

Next week will be better. A spending fast is like cutting. The beginning is the hardest, but once the momentum builds, it’s much easier to make progress.

I'm at 9 years 2 months to go. I'll keep working if I'm still enjoying what I'm doing. That said I've moved 6 times in 10.5 years and while it should slow down, that's become a bit tiresome.

Sounds like you're on the right path with the spending fast. I did buy a 6 pack this weekend, so not entirely down to no fun money.

I feel like I have hundreds of interests that I would like to do as hobbies that I don't have the time to, or that I pass on over the weekends because I'm too eager to have a day to do absolutely nothing to recharge.

I'd like to have more time to dedicate to lifting/exercise...to shooting (esp if I could ever do it in my own yard...guy can dream, noblump)...reading...getting back into video games (that aren't mobile apps)...reloading...get another muscle car and wrench on it...set up a legit ham shack except HOA would lose their **** with the antennas lol

Srs. How hard is it to get a ham license? I've tried to go test twice and the tests get cancelled.

good call on reading. i probably get around to 1 out of 5 books that I'd like to. not enough time in the day. I have a half hour commute to and from work, I should probably get into audio books.

It was pretty easy, though it did take some hours of work to learn stuff. I did this in 2007

I just bought the ARRL booklets, like these:

https://smile.amazon.com/ARRL-Ham-Ra...license+manual

https://smile.amazon.com/General-Cla...8Y57R6YH3CB96K

I read/studied the books as if I was preparing for a class final, and then took the online tests over and over.http://www.arrl.org/exam-practiceThat uses actual questions and answers from the FCC database, so if you just do those over and over until you get them all right every time, you've already passed/aced the exam.

I signed up for the tests once, went, missed one question between the technician and general exams, done deal. I took the extra exam just-because and got like 1/3 right lol

Tests getting cancelled would be irritating.

I've got the book. It's frustrating because I only want it for off-road/emergency use. I never plan to use it as a hobby. Just want a way to reach out if I'm stuck on the mountains somewhere.

If it's an emergency you don't need to be licensed (and that would qualify). BUT, of course, you should practice with your equipment before sticking it in your vehicle as part of your preps, and to do that, well, you need a license. At least everything you have to learn to get the license is highly relevant, practical, and not overly difficult for a typical person.

If you have or get a HT (handie talkie, what the hams call the hand helds not sure on spelling), get an external antennta that can be mounted to your vehicle.

I'm so seriously slacking on this...I'd have to get my rig's manual out to do anything with it lol

I have a handheld. I need to set up the antenna on the 4R, as I have the setup I had on my FJ. I'll just keep waiting until I can get a test completed.

Nice to see the Broncos show up to play against the 0 - 5 Giants. All sorts of talk locally about how easy the game was going to be . . . defense was going to outscore the NY offense, etc.

Giants are winning 16 - 3 . . . Siemian just threw a pick-6, hurt his shoulder trying to tackle and now Osweiler is in. LOL. This is why they play the game.
